Blog #1----If you were President of the United States.....

You are President of the United States, what are three (3) areas of concern you have for the country? What policies would you like to enact? Explain your choices and reasoning. Respond and to someone else. If the responses are not adequate, will receive no points for your entry. You have until Sunday Feb 3, midnight to post.

  1. If I were President, three areas of concern I'd have for this country are gun control and availability, Government spending, and the decline of education.
I would push for new laws that would ban assault weapons, not necessarily all guns, as they are of no practical need. For instead, the assault weapons are being used to harm others and strike more fear into us, which in turn leads us to want to have a gun or assault weapon for ourselves. That builds unwanted tension among people.
The United States is in ridiculous debt with China and other nations. The Government gives billions and billions of dollars of "corporate welfare" each year to companies that do not need it at all. And all that has to stop, but most of our money is going to the war efforts in the Middle East and so we borrow from foreign countries, evidently this'll lead to more problems.
Tuitoin rates are rising dramatically, college graduates leave with debt, the number of dropouts is growing and the rating of American students in reading, math and other topics is falling behind those of other industrialized countries. That is unacceptable. It'd be a great investment for a country to educate it's future generations, no other country would want to mess with or invade a place full of Doctors and Scientists. Kids in China will work so hard to even get the opportunity to get a proper education, our kids should be just as, if not way more, ambitious.
But then again, all these points are just my opinion.

    1. While i agree with you on education reform i have a different view towards gun control. Banning assault riffles is not the way to fix this problem. By banning said weapons the risk level is not brought down, these psychopaths who try to harm individuals cannot be stopped by banning guns, guns aren't the problem. These type of people are the problem, hypothetically speaking let's say they do find a way to remove assault riffles (which i believe is rather impossible) it wouldn't stop them from causing harm there are tons of ways to cause major harm, banning the weapons just gives them a motive to branch out and try different ways.

    2. I also agree with your view on education but I do not feel the same way on gun control because I do not feel like that would make things "safer". Just because you can ban assault rifles does not mean there is no other way of getting them. ATF has been trying very hard to stop the illegal selling of guns but even they can make mistakes and lose track of things for example when ATF agents put trackers on a shipment of gun that they eventually lost becasue the trackers lost their battery life. Something that people should try pursuing is laws that would prevent mentally imbalanced people from getting gun.

      Delete
    3. i agree with jacob. ATF not only lost track of the gun shipment but most of the guns that they have obtain from weapon sweeps have ended up in the hands of drug cartels and in fact an weapon operation of ATF went wrong when they set up a bust using their own weapons caused a AFT life. So banning they won't solve ANYTHING.

    4. I agree with you on the educational change that needs to be undertaken. The price for tuition has risen to immense proportions and in many instances has prevented many people from achieving a higher education that could in the end lead to their success. More aid needs to be provided as to decrease the amount of people in society who are refrained from attending a college or university. This could have extraordinary impact on where they end up in life and how much they can in the end contribute to society.

    5. I agree with your standpoint on Education and the changes that need to made in that field, but as far as the gun control policies you would want to put into play i am totally against it. In those regards i would have to agree with Jacob in the way that instead of making guns harder to acquire for everyone they should just start checking their medical background along with their criminal background because the more control you put on stuff the more the people are going to want to go against those certain rules.

  2. If i was president of the United Sates three of my major concerns would be reforming education, restoring the economy and clearing out any conflicts between other countries.
Reforming education i feel is very important due to the fact that everything revolves around it. It is in fact the great equalizer. It only brings out positive outcomes for our nation such as jobs that could restore our nations economy as well as technological advancements that could further benefit everyone. I would start by promoting more science and math programs in every school due to the fact that these are the core subjects that are used to produce new technological advancements.
Restoring the nations economy is another important matter that i would get to working instantly. It's what keeps the country moving and without it limits us to being productive. I'd start by taxing churches it may seem like it's not the right thing to do but when you think about how much goes into making the churches stay tax free it's a nice chunk of money that could be further used to decrease the price in universities thus providing more opportunities for recent high school graduates.
Next I'd focus on fixing any international conflicts that'd may be occurring that way war and other altercations could be avoided. Keeping peace would be very important that way instead of killing each other we could work together towards producing the best for each others country, such as trading and exporting and advancing in technology as a team to further benefit everyone. It would be all about moving up and being productive.

    1. I agree with the want to better our education system and availability in this country. But trying to solve any problems with any other countries is kind of impossible, unfortunately. We do have countries like North Korea who do not give a damn about peace, but rather they threaten us constantly and strive to lose all communication with the outside world.

      Delete
    2. I never put much thought about taxing the church. In fact, I didn't know we didn't tax them. I agree with the benefits of doing so but I don't think it would be a drastic change. Usually change takes a long time to create.

      Delete
    3. I agree that creating new programs for the core classes will help the education system to make student more prepared to produce more technological advancements. Taxing churches is also a good idea that I didn't think of which will benefit ti decrease the national debt. I also agree that fixing international conflicts will benefit the country with more trade.

  4. If I were President of the United States the three areas of concern would be: foreign relations, the economy and education. I would enact policies which would create a better relationship with foreign countries. This would make amends to all the terroristic problems the United States faces. The economy is what makes the U.S. a “better life” for those who are citizens and for those who join as immigrants. Our economy is at a down-point but if there is a policy where government spending is lowered, the national debt wouldn’t be as high. Education is an important necessity in life. In order to have a better economy the U.S. needs better education policies. The United States needs education to become a more prosperous country. Education should be funded more by the government because those who are in school (college, high school, etc.) are the future of the United States.

    1. Making policies for foreign relations would be good in one way but also bad. I don't think you can say that it will amend terrorist problems because of everything terrorist have done to this country. Although you want to make peace with other countries, you have to think, what if they just flat out don't want to make peace with us? It's not easy creating policies and making things better. We have tried making peace with them but they have just rejected us so it won't be easy letting things go with all the issues and problems from the past.

  5. If I were the President of the United States the three main areas of concern would be first, violence. Violence has been a really big issue lately especially dealing with guns in this case. Not only is it happening outside of our home (the country) but inside of our home too. Look at what's been going on lately, the school shooting at North Harris and the connecticut shooting. Why are these innocent people getting killed? I can tell you one thing is that weapons are being used as toys. Why are people using these guns as if they were water guns? Why and how are these people getting a hold of guns, some people don't have gun license but still use them? Second concern would have to be economy. Money for one thing is and has always been a problem with the economy and some of it has to do with being lazy. So many people are lying to the government to get money that those who really need it don't get anything. People are getting lazy to get a job which brings me to my third concern, unemployment. People can't live off of this world with the government's help all their life. Just like Kitzia said in her last post, In orfer to have a better economy the U.S needs better education policies. And if not education policies, better employment policies.

    1. I agree with you, Karla, alot of times individuals think that guns are toys and then people come to a realization that it may look like a toy--but the bullets destroy lives.

      Delete
    2. I agree with Karla. Violence now-a-days is basically out of control. We witness it every day. Shootings have been taking over the country and have created chaos at homes. Parents can't even trust the school systems because of the massive reports about the security of their children in school.

      Delete
    3. Of course violence is out of control everywhere we look even in the safest places. Guns aren't toys but also banning them won't stop violence going on around us. I would take a lot more than just taking guns away.

      Delete
  6. Most of my concern would fall directly under the economic stand point the United States is in. We are about $15 trillion in debt and it doesn't seem to be decreasing anytime soon. I would do what I can to lower our debt and finally enter an era where our economy is stable enough to achieve anything accomplishing for this country of ours... starting with reinforcing our education system. This country is 7th in literacy, 27th in math, 22nd in science. We should focus on these points to open our eyes that the U.S. is not exactly in any position to brag and has much work to do. Overall we should find a way for the people of the U.S. to work together to actually get things accomplished. We may see some "progress" but these are small baby steps for something larger than life. This would be the third concern for the country.

    1. I for most part agree with you on the economic stand point. If that were to happen right now in the real world, the United States wouldn't have any problem with spending and saving. The United States right now is lowering down because of money reasons, next thing you know we will be living The Great Depression all over again. Good point you made on your first concern, That's really one big issue right now!

      Delete
    2. I agree very much with martins point. Dealing with the economic downfall that the nation is in, then dealing with education are a very good combination that could lead to national stability in the future.

  7. If i were president of the United States, the three areas i would focus are education, economy and immigration. The education system is being more of a joke since the lack of funding and impacted towards the general society. Since we are ranked around the 20's globally of education. Its proves we are lacking funding towards education. In general society, Teenagers and young adults are not taking this opportunity to make this change or to increased their knowledge on a general course. But the government is not taking these actions. And Americans wonder why foreigners are taking away the health or any other career. Because they spend their time on pursuing on an education. Economy is a major problem. The government is spending on things we don't really need. Also, The money is just being wasted as karla stated "lazy people who's not taking any opportunity at them" Same goes with teenage pregnancy rates. Why do the majority of girls get pregnant at an early age. Because of free money. Welfare would take care of their problems. But leave the people who are in fact need the money. From jobless due to economic crisis. Disability people with real disorders or psychological disorders. Or People who are struggling. Like the show 16 and pregnant or teen moms. There is no way helping improving the economy just for free money due to childish and selfish issue. Where people with issues actually need the money to pay off anything they need. And people wonder why the economy is going down? There are just some couch-potato individuals who are just ignorant or ill-minded to change anything. Immigration is a big issue. Many innocent immigrates are being deported just for not having citizenship and yet we have criminals who are not citizens of the U.S. taking advantage of those who came to this country for a better life, job, free education and freedom. If i were a president i would give these innocent individuals citizenship if they stayed in america for 5-7 years. Because it would help them to have a "American Life Style". But for criminals who are ravaging and blaming on the innocent, should be deported back to their origin of country for doing unwanted and dangerous activities that may harm innocent people. If America needs change. Better education, more opportunities, reduce some of unneeded programs, better life and a better employment policies.

    1. I agree about the education issues. Many teenagers in the U.S. are procrastinating or as some people say "failingitis" that thet rather focus on simple things that they can do another day. Some of them are taking smart and talented people for granted and leech the work off of them. George W. Bush's "No Child Left Behind" policy didn't help at all. It turns out the policy just let the below average students "sleep" through school until they graduate.

  8. Three main areas I would focus on if I were President would be education, unemployment and immigration.
Tax payers have to pay taxes for schools until they turn about 65 and it's not an option for them. Regardless if they have children or not, they still pay for other people's children to go to school and it seems like some schools don't see much of that money. There are schools that don't have enough funding to do certain activities or hire more teachers. The focus on education has vanished and I as president would bring it back. Like Kitzia said, people who are in school are the future of the country. If the government is collecting so much of the taxes for educadtion then it should all be used to educate the future of the country.
Secondly, unemployment would be one of my focuses because there are many people that are in need of a job. Instead of creating jobs, it seems as if the government is destroying jobs. More people are wanting to work but they find themselves without a job. I have heard about many college graduates that have graduated top universities but can't get a job in the field that they majored in. We need a solution for that and I would try my best to create more jobs for those who are in great need of one and those who have worked hard to get a better education to get a better job.
Of course immigration has always been an issue in the United States so it would be one of my concerns as well. Immigration has to be dealt with not just put aside for later. I honestly would pass a reform for those who have lived here certain years and for their children as well if they are getting an education. Many of them just want a better future and that's what they came here for, so why not let them follow their dreams as well? They would be able to become citizens as long as they haven't committed any felonies and if they commit a felony after becoming citizens, I would have their citizenship revoked. We see it's a major issue, so why not do something about it. It would be much easier and a problem less for the country.

    1. I agree with the immigration issue. Immigrants that have not done anything against the country should remain living here. On the other hand if they are on the side of committing crimes they are the adequate people to make U.S a better country.

      Delete
    2. I agree completely completely with her point of view on education. Education taxes should be used to better the education system not for other things that like war that are obviously not helping the economy or the country. The country should actually do what they say they are doing with the money citizens pay to the government.

      Delete
  9. If I was President of the United States, I would focus first on Immigration. I would push for a reform that would allow undocumented immigrants to become US citizens, however it would be, not to say strict, but a tight reform that would select those who will contribute back to the country. It would involve a thorough examination of their record to search for felonies, and any other past major criminal offenses. It would mostly support those families who are truly here to escape the decaying condition of their homelands for the better life in America, those who want to work and study in order to fulfill their duties as a citizen. I believe it could even be the most beneficial for those college students that have come here along with their parents as undocumented. Therefore, the reform would weed out criminals and people who present obstacles/threats to the nation, and help those who need it.
After that, I would concern myself with the drug trafficking and issues surrounding Marijuana, etc. I would try to legalize certain drugs strictly for medical purposes, and even then imposes tight security as to who can obtain it, when can they obtain, and who can prescribe it. The reform could perhaps involve a background check and medical record check on those who wish to obtain it. Also, rigorous checkpoints/securities on the hospitals who would administer the drug. Regarding the heavy trafficking, I would draft laws and mechanisms to help reinforce securities at all the borders of the United States, north, south, east, west, and all.
Lastly, I would address the issue upon Gay Marriage and LGBT rights. Sure, people often don't think that's it's that big of an issue, or that it is just sick to think about men with men, and women with women. Those people are the prime example of ignorant. It would be surprising to know how many teenagers, and even young adults/adults, struggle and suffer because of their sexuality. Whether it's abuse in school/workplaces, or discrimination on public places. People should be able to marry who they want. And no, this is not forcing gay marriage into the country. It is not like we will come knocking on your door screaming EVERYBODY GETS A GAY HUSBAND/WIFE. No. If someone does not agree with it, okay well that is their opinion and we should respect as how they should also respect sexuality of others. Live and let other live.

    1. My legit fact about Gay marriage is that it is wrong against Christianity. NO WHERE in the bible it says its okay for 2 men or 2 women to be together, this country is founded on Christian bases. Why should we pass Gay marriage just because you gay and you wanna get married? My bias opinion is i think its nasty and disgusting. Am I saying that about the person? NO! Im saying that, that lifestyle is not acceptable. You would be a lie if you said you wouldn't mind your children being Gay. i dont have to say no more...its nasty straight like that.

      Delete
    2. I myself would not want my kids to be gay but if they are then i can't do anything about it but support them. I would want them to be happy so why shouldn't others be happy too. There is such a law called pursuit of happiness. Everybody has the right to find happiness!! I mean if i were president that would not be as important to me as the economy but it is an issue that needs to be taken care of soon. So why not let them be happy?

      Delete
    3. I respect your opinion, but if we have founded the country upon Christian values and bases, then explain the following. Shouldn't divorce be illegal? Shouldn't tattoos be illegal? Shouldn't future readers and psychic services be illegal? Those are all things the bible condemns, yet no one seems to make a fuss about it, and they seem perfectly legal. Besides, I thought God said to love everybody. Clearly, the world has not been listening for a long time.
What do you think will happen if the country legalizes gay marriage? World War III? Plagues? Everybody turning gay? Well, no. The only thing that will come out of legalizing gay marriage is that gay couples will get married. That is it. The law would be for them, and would not affect you nor any straight people whatsoever.
And well I think that the lifestyle of ignorance and hate is nasty and disgusting too.
The only thing I would mind about my kid being gay is how terrible he is going to feel when he goes out there into the world and finds no support or love from anyone but a few. That is the really sad thing. And I would hate it that my child ends up committing suicide because of people who are ignorant, who are hard-headed, who are hateful, who are judgmental, and who are against the happiness of others.

    4. I agree with Diego. DOMA needs to be repealed. Lesbians and gays should be allowed to get married. This is not a Christian nation. There is a reason why separation of church and state exists. If two people love each other, then they have the right to marry each other. It shouldn’t and DOESN’T matter what gender. No matter if you’re heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual, it shouldn’t make a difference. Anybody should be able to marry whoever they want to no matter what. Two people who’ve just met and gotten hammered can get married in Vegas, so why can’t two men or two women get married? Just because I don't like something or it goes against my religious views does not mean I have the right to make it illegal. I don't like to see teenage girl walking around pregnant and I think they should not be allowed to keep those kids because they are not fit parents yet you don't see me trying to force all teen girls to have abortions.

      Delete
    5. I honestly agree with all three points of Diego's. I strongly agree that making it strict to let immigrants become citizens because not all of the immigrants support the same goal. I'm not sure about legalizing drugs, but to a certain extent yes. And gay and lesbians should be allowed to be married, we are humans, just are interests are different. I personally see nothing wrong with it.

      Delete
    6. I agree with Diego's point on Gays and Lesbians being able to get married. Just because a person is gay or lesbian doesn't make them any different than a person who is heterosexual. I don't see anything wrong with a person being homosexual.

      Delete
    7. I Agree with you Diego people should be able to marry who they want.

    8. Diego I disagree with allowing gay marriage. I can honestly say I have a few great successful gay family members and I support them to the fullest being my blood. One thing I will not support is allowing it legaling the issue at all. This country was based on Christianity. Yes, the first amendment states free religion but it never says that this country has to accommodate them. I agree with Jecory it isn't in the Bible. I actually go to church 2 or 3 times a week and it's just not accepted. That is my view and I stick by it 100%.

      Delete
    9. I agree with Diego's arguments against the replies to his original comment. People who say they wouldn't want their child to be gay, but if so would still accept them is such a contradiction because you're hoping for a straight child and if they happen to be gay you'd still treat them differently. That is wrong and unfair to the child, in my opinion orientation is not a choice it is nature. People twist religion to fit their own discriminatory opinions, just as Diego said if it being illegal in the eyes of God were true so would divorce, tattoos and future tellers should be equally weighed with same sex marriage. It is hard enough to be accepted in society as it is but when the government stifles gay's rights it just gives people more of an excuse to treat them as if they are not equal. I don't understand why people are so afraid of homosexuality... And as for Jecory's comment, no one judges you for being straight. No one tells you, that you disgust them because of your orientation and I'm sure you wouldn't like to be discriminated for being straight.

    10. So I respect everyone's opinion and all but as Venice said our country was based on Christian foundation. I will stand by those beliefs 100% as well. Yes the country has made it legal to do all of these things. Why? Because man is only becoming worse and worse. We don't see the bad but we know it's bad. So why do we still do it? I don't agree with everything the country is doing but you have to understand who all is running the country. If the people wanted it and they gave it to us then who's fault is it really? Our own because it was our movements that took them to that point to make those decisions. Homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God. There were two cities in the bible that were completely destroyed from the face of the earth because of it. I fear God very much and would hate to see America fall because we decided to be rebellious. Right now I believe that God's mercy is so great upon us because of all the horrible things we've done. I'm sorry Diego. I love you but I WILL stand next to what I believe in 100%. By the way yes God loves eveyone but don't forget that God is also a consuming fire when we disobey yet the bible also says that he greatly merciful. We live in a time where the only thing keeping us going is his grace and mercy. That is why we haven't been consumed. Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone but this is just the hard hitting truth that I WILL NOT let go unsaid.

    11. Venice, it's great that you support those who are gay in your family, but how much support truly is it if you're denying them one of the bases of their happiness? And again on Christianity, read my earlier reply to see what I have to say.

      Delete
    12. Rachel, you mist really like that poem by Stephen Crane about and angry and unforgiving God. But I respect that the bible says it's not right, but the same way you and many others believe in Christian principles, I believe that if homosexuality was truly an abomination, why oh why would God let it exist? Why would He let it exist if He thinks/says it is horrendous? It just doesn't make sense. Like you said why hasnt He wiped out all the gay people? Because of His mercy? Perhaps, but I think that he sees the broader perspective of happiness and wants everyone to be, even if it traduces to homosexuality. He is merciful and just, so in the end He will have the last word at the time of our death.

  10. If i were to become president i would focus on immigration, the legalization of drugs, and also keeping out of foreign affairs. Immigration has been a massive issue since the formation of this country. While some come to find a better life, others just seem to come to mess things up for those who are here with a purpose. They create unnecessary chaos and this leads to the idea that all of the people of that certain race are just the same if not worse. This is one of the reasons why legal citizens have a problem agreeing to an immigration reform, but i think they should be able to compromise for the sake of those who do want to attain the AMERICAN DREAM. I feel that an immigration reform should be passed, but there should be certain requirements the person needs to meet. I honestly think that immigrants have a lot to contribute to this country. If we were to grant them citizenship we would not only be benefiting them, but also the country as a whole because they would help boost the economy. I mean some are helping the economy as we speak. They pay taxes and give money to businesses thus giving the government money we desperately need. It would only be fair to allow them to stay here, so that they continue helping us grow from the money-less abyss we are in. The legalization of drugs would allow us to improve the economy. We all know people or have people in our families that consume drugs. If there are so many people that consume drugs, then why not take advantage of it?? We should legalize drugs and place a high tax on them. We know a lot of people would buy them and unfortunately most of them would probably be addicts and it may be wrong to take advantage of people in that condition, but we need the money. Making them legal would not only help the economy, but it would also help reduce the violence in the country. And , we could use all money we spend fighting against drug cartels and drug dealers and put it to good use like funding education and what not. The United States is like that nosy neighbor that just gets in people's business all day long. We have gone to war with countries who we don't have anything to do with. Because we don't know how to mind our own business, many innocent people have died and we have spent ridiculous amounts of money funding these wars. This has come to bite us in the butt because look at the position we are in now. We need to stop being nosy and fight when it's absolutely necessary. We don't need to fight anyone else's battles because we don't know if they'll help us later on. If they don't, we'll be left to fight alone. We'll have no money for weapons and no soldiers to defend us.We would just fall apart which is why i would try to arrange it so that we won't have to go through any of that. I would try to fix three of the many problems we face, so that this country would prosper and keep prospering for years to come.

    1. i don't agree with you on the drug legalization yes some drugs should be legalized while others shouldn't for instance heroin and crack should stay illegal while drugs like cannabis,DMT,coca leaves, and other plant based drugs should be legal. But these plant based drugs like weed shouldn't be taxed the criminal charges just need to be dropped. And with that being said we should make some drugs that are legal illegal for instance cigarettes they not only kill the people smoking but kill the people around them to, and alcohol it causes so much deaths every year yet its perfectly legal while weed has been yet to cause one single death.

  11. If i was president i would 1st bring home all the troops overseas. 2nd i would Attend to our own problems, we steady worried about other countries and their conflicts and poverty, when we got problems of our own to take care of. 3rd I would legalize Marijuana in all states, because taxing Marijuana like tobacco will bring trillions to the country. And last but not least, I would ban Gay marriage, go somewhere else with that, its not right and if you are a christian you should feel the same way, Catholics threw a big fit about abortion..weeelll being Gay is as much as a sin.

  12. If i were to become president I would focus on immigraton many say, "I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands,
    one Nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", but many dont see that these lines where writen for all people residding in the U.S. legally or not these people came just like the founding fathers did looking for a better future. Further more this nation is just a dream where everyone come from a foreing land. the first way i would try to convince the people of this decision would be to try to expose some of thoes job that only immigrants are willing to do for low pay and harsh working conditions. not only are we exploiting these men and women for our own benefit but repeating the mistake of in a way enslaving these people. The second issue I would focus on would be the legalization of the drugs. have you ever hurd the saying " its better when you are not supposed to do it"? society is being corrupt and twisted by the people following these beliefs thus chaos braking loose. Legalizing these this products/drugs would only decrease the occupations of our jail space as well as under the counter(the courner) distribution. law would be broken even less to the point that the drug popularity would droop as well as its comsumption. The third and final issue at hand would be the Education system.giving the fact that the standar test in texas test students at an 8 grade level i would have the standars raised to the point that the test would be at the level required and demand that the staff pass the test with a 90% showing mastery of the materrial and attend classes to learn how to teach. every month each teacher would report a report of the student strenght and weakness and submited to the admministration. With this data we would be able to create better estrategies to improve the student learning capabilities. i understand that the teachers are not to blame so the administration should check the background of the student and provide better conditions for does sudents that have a risk of failure but also lay responasbily in such students thus providing a safe and productive learning enviroment for both teacher and student.

    1. I totally agree with you about exposing the cruel treatments and harsh job conditions that illegal men and women go through. Many people don't realize that they are not stealing jobs from anybody, they are simply taking on the jobs legal citizens are not wanting to do. They say "oh they're stealing our jobs ",but the job has been there all along and now all of the sudden that they see and illegal immigrant do it ,they decide to complain. The legal citizens need to realize that the immigrants are here to help not to harm.

  13. If I were president of the United States, my first three concerns are to improve education, stablelize the economy, and reform immigration.

My first concern will be to improve the country's education system. The United States is ranked far from being the smartest nation on the world. Many students hardly put effort to improve their education. There are also teachers that don't want to teach and only take the jobs for money. I would fire those teachers and hire those that can help improve students' education. Helping them get a decent education will not only will it affect their future, but also the future of the United States.

My next move would be to stabilize the economy. Our national debt is far down the tube that it will take years to pay it all off. There are certain presidents, I won't say who, that made decisions in which worsen the economy and were too ignorant to see the consequences. I would make both democrats and republicans set aside their differences so they can cooperate on healing the economy.

My third course of action is to reform the nation's immigration laws. Certain immigrants who lived in the United States, have clean records, jobs, and families should automatically recieve citizenship. It is immoral to separate parents from their children as they have no one to support them. It is another reason why many students don't gain a good education because they have no one to rely on. The immigrants provide the bulk of the economy and the schools.

I agree with your post on education it's important. The United States today for the most part all of our technologies such as (TV's, Computers, Video Game Consoles, and cell phones) are all made else where because people in the other countries are more well educated when it comes to technology as compared to over here.

  14. If I was president first of all I would try to get away with the idea of political parties all they do is corrupt society and divide us. We see it going on with things like gay marriage and abortion. We also see it with big parties who aid the president in order to get a law passed in their favor. Second order I would take as president would be to expose the banking systems and Federal Reserve Act. As I was scrolling down and reading peoples comments the most concern I saw was with debt but under the Federal Reserve act and stuff like central banking debt will always be here and it will never go away. The central bank doesn't supply the nation with money but loans it at interest. That means every dollar loaned out already has debt on it and where do we go get money to reduce this once again from the central govt causing more debt. It's a endless supply of debt. My third order would be to stop the war and killing of innocent people. First of all their never was a threat of terrorism it was just a big lie so we could go into war in Iraq, and second are we really only killing soldiers? No we aren't we are killing hundreds thousands of innocent lives of not only men but women and children, but yet we praise Obama with a noble peace prize...how pathetic.

  15. If I was president I would mainly focus on issues in our country such as education and the economy but I would also focus on foreign affairs. First for education I would try to improve the system by enacting policies that would make students actually want to learn and make school feel less cumbersome. Most kids nowadays feel like school is just something to keep them busy not all think this way but most do. For the economy I would enact policies that would tax imports more and exports less so that we can stop depending on foreign nations for supplies and make our exports bring in revenue so that we can depend on ourselves and continue this afterwards. As for foreign relations I would do my best so that I may remove our presence in the countries that do not want us there. The fact that we try to fix other countries is sad because we can't even fix our own.

  16. The three main focuses if i was president would be the defaltion in currency, legalizing drugs that are illegal, and remove our troops from overseas.First the defaltion of our money is a nessecary act in which money rules our nation and with decrease in value leaves many to believe that we need to change our currency.2nd if we legalize the illegal drugs then we can enforce a tax on it which can inflate our government wealth and allow america to be once again a super power. With the removal of our troops overseas we're able to give little children and mothers there father figure and allow more job competiton in our work force.

If america legalized illegal drugs like marijuana and then taxed it it could bring us out of debt within at least 10 years other than a lifetime! With america out of debt we can again like harold said become a super power which is exactly what we want. In a nation like ours money runs everything.

  17. If I was President I would focus on taking steps to make the economy better because many people want change with the economy. In order for that to happen with the economy both parties need to work together so that action could take place. Once democrats and republicans decide they want to work together that's when changes will start happening to the economy and we will start seeing more of a stabilized economy.

Welfare food stamps or any financial assistance given to people in "need". Today we come to find that many people are taking advantage of this program yet you see them with a nice home, nice car, and with the latest clothes out there, but yet they are on welfare or you see them check out at the store and they pay with food stamps. People have been abusing the system and my main focus on it would be to make the requirements for these kind of programs stricter so tax payers dollars don't go out the window instead they would go to something better.

Lastly my focus would be adding money to the education fund to make classes smaller and hire more teachers. With the requirements becoming higher to obtain a high school diploma or even to advance to the next grade level many students can't get the help they need due to 32+ students being in a classroom. There isn't that one on one help because there is only one of them and 32+ of them.

  18. As the president of the United states I would mainly focused in the right of bearing arms, immigration, and of course the controverse over abortion. The hazards of permitting certain ignorant people to use fire arms affects our own confidence of whether were going to return back home alive. Such as the horrible scene that occurred at Lone Star College or the innocent little elementary children and teacher that got killed. Violence has gone pass the line extremely bad. Back in the days these types of incidents were not so common. Now a days is not even surprising anymore.
As being part of a hispanic family I believe people were born equal even though some take advantage of their rights and commit malicious actions. I strongly believe that hard working immigrants should have the priviledge of living in the U.S. While they do not commit felonies I think they should have the opportunity to leave their poverty behind for a better future.
In my own opinion a women should abort only if she was sexually abuse. Young girls have the option of what they want to do. Otherwise I think an innocent fetus is not guilty of his/her mother's actions.

Violence is growing and it is not fair that inoccent people are losing their life due to the people that abuse rights they have.

  20. If I were president, I would focus on 3 aspects that seem to be the center points in government today: education and its deteriorating significance that only seems to continue to decrease, the legalization of drugs and the debate which it has ignited, as well as gun control and the impact that this decision will inevitably have on society as a whole.

In my opinion education should be considered extremely valuable. The extent and quality of a good education, when taken advantage of, can contribute to the success of the people. This, in turn, can lead to the growth and success of the nation as a union. Those who lead today and carry the future of our country in their hands have that background in knowledge that aided them in the process of becoming a part of a system that serves to enable the rest of us to continue. They provide that structure that is needed in order to prosper and their biggest ally has been that knowledge that they received prior. So then why is it when money is needed by the government educational funds are the first to be reduced? This not only impacts today’s youth, it reduces the possibilities of our success. And the country cannot funtion properly if only a few are able to contribute, everyone at least deserves the opportunity to experience a good education and use what it provides to their benefit. I would become more involved in how much this affects not only the adolescents, but all scholars in general. Funds will not be taken any further and when possible it will be enhanced in quality and availability. Americans today should not be deprived of that opportunity and if this is not changed, society wil surely plummet.
Another topic that I would take into consideration is marijuana and its possible legalization. It is illegal for a reason, point blank. Those many uniformed individuals should get informed and leave behind their ignorance. There are risks to smoking marijuana, people can die. Why legalize something that could eventually hurt the people in society? Because of the temporary high? Well, death is forever so that might want to be taken into account when argueing this.
“Because of the lower blood pressure and higher heart rate, researchers found that users' risk for a heart attack is four times higher within the first hour after smoking marijuana, compared to their general risk of heart attack when not smoking.”
“Smoking marijuana, even infrequently, can cause burning and stinging of the mouth and throat, and cause heavy coughing. Scientists have found that regular marijuana smokers can experience the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers do, including: Increased risk of lung infections and obstructed airways.”

“Because marijuana smoke contains three times the amount of tar found in tobacco smoke and 50 percent more carcinogens, it would seem logical to deduce that there is an increased risk of lung cancer for marijuana smokers. ”
    (The Health Effects of Marijuana)
I would say the consequences overshadow the benefits. Therefore, I would make sure to keep it illegal as it should be to avoid said consequences.
The third aspet I would focus on is gun control. Taking away this right will not prevent the abuse from occurring once again. Restrictions are expected and society will rebel. The problem is not the guns perse, it is how easily accessible they have become and how little precaution is being placed in many areas, especially school grounds. There is a lack of security and protection given to the people so much so that children’s lives are being taken. Something must be done because although it cannot be stopped completely it can be significantly reduced in occurrence. Some actions I would take as president are: increasing the amount of security and protection, making medal detectors mandatory in all schools and universities, etc.

  21. If I were president the first thing I would change would be the terrible debt our country is in. The ways I could maybe achieve this goal is by staying out of foreign country's business. Also by creating more American jobs , so our money doesn't go into another country and make us lack even more money.
The second thing I would do is legalize marijuana. I my self am not affiliated or have any interest in marijuana , but it would be a perfect target to tax on. Many people in the US like it , why not tax on it and make more money ? it would be similar as alcohol. It was once illegal , but now it's not. Now our government make money off of it by taxing it.
The third thing I would change is this terrible health care plan. It makes everything more complicated , more money taken out of checks , and makes us feel like we are being forced to buy something. In my opinion it was a mistake , and unfortunately our generation will pay for It. I bet all the people that voted for it regret it because now they got kicked off.

    2. All the things you mention I would easily agree with. Yes the nation needs to lower their dept as soon as possible because who knows, maybe China or France might just get tired of waiting. The legalizing of Canabis is also something that will go well with the economy. Imagine the profit that can come with selling that in the public. The healthcare has to change as well. I like how you mentioned it being horrible since it is bad that Obama wants to make too many changes for little to no reasons.

    3. I also agree with the legalization of marijuana. For the same reason because it can be taxed and as many people use the substance in the United States it would bring an immense amount of money into America's hands to use.

  22. If I were to be the president, the most important thing to settle is the national dept the nation has. 16 trillion dollars is far right outrageous and it must be lowered down. It can be done by lowering the spending on the military, medicaid, and other organizations that is spending way too much money. The next thing I would do is destroy the gun control act. This law will do nothing but cause more crime than there really is. Yes it has been rough the recent months with psychopaths running around with weapons but that is rare. There can be a way to some how lower the threat by having gun owners take a test or some classes to see if nothing is wrong with their minds. We can also have more of a look out for searching unregistered weapons so they will not go to the wrong hands. The third thing I would change is to raise the spending on education. It is depressing seeing how much money is out there for college but yet the government decides to take it and spend it for something obnoxious. Without money, there will be less doctors, lawyers, scientist, and other careers that will have less employers in them. This can hurt the nation in the long run if the budget of education stays the same. In the end, this is all my opinion.

    1. I somewhat agree with your view on gun control. I believe that adding restrictions will do nothing to help the problem we have if someone really wants to do harm they will find a way to get fire arms no matter of how many restrictions there are. Take Mexico for example guns are illegal over there yet you see people with them everywhere. However adding people to the search for unregistered weapons and their dealers would really help and reduce the ability for arms to be acquired.

      Delete
    2. I disagree with your views on gun control something has to be done, we can't just throw it out the window but we can't blow it out of proportion either. We have to make it so that we are limiting gun control not allowing someone to walk around with a rocket launcher.

  23. As president, my three points of concern would be over putting away with political parties, the legalization of drugs/guns, and some sort of reform in the education system.
Political parties is a big cause of a divide of the country, which some people take very seriously and approach it with intelligence. On the other hand, there is a very significant number of ignorant voters who vote on the matter of skin color, which has been seen in the past two elections of Obama. To add on, the entire election campaigns are jokes to the country. In short terms, the candidates bribe you for your vote, except you just might not get your part of the deal.
Second, I believe we should legalize some drugs and guns. Not everything should be legal such as the many man-made drugs that cause addiction and death frequently, but such as marijuana. Which can help our world in many ways such as improving our economy and decreasing the number of underground drug traffickers. Most guns should also be legalized for the same manner, but another addition would be having more accounts of licensed weapons. Guns aren't the problem, and if it was people will still have their ways to get them and do as they please.
Lastly, our education system needs great reform. With first hand experience, I believe students now waste entirely too much time with school. Not because of them, but because they have no variety of choices of what they want to do and some classes forced to take are pointless. Students need something they want to learn about and research in, and if they don't, let them be. There's no need to baby people that don't want better lives for themselves.

  24. If i were president I could not just choose 3 issues to change. There are so many things wrong with the united states. These are some:in

The most important issue to me at the time is that idiotic law some are trying to pass to allow teachers to carry weapons at schools. People worry for the sake of the children, but don't think about the outcomes. A school is supposed to be a sanctuary for children. It's supposed to be where they feel safe. How will that happen knowing that anyone can get a hold of a gun in the very classroom they are in? It's stupid of people to think they can hide it or keep it away from the students. By having weapons in school you make it easier for them to get a hold of them. I would make it illegal for teachers or anyone other than a police officer in the school to hold a gun, but on the other hand i would pass a law to have more security at schools. There are schools with camera secured doors where only certain people can be let in. Why not just add that to all schools? Sure it's expensive but I'm sure anyone would agree that it's the best thing for the children.

Second,I would work on welfare. It would be a long run but that problem needs to be solved. I would do my best to have a 1:7 or more ratio of social worker to welfare applicant. While many dont really need the help, but are just there spending people's taxes, there are many that are in real need of the help. Hiring more social worker would increase jobs while saving tax money for other things. Social workers can have an assigned group of people which they check on and provide help if they are really in need. They can confirm that the applicant is not lying. Also, provide help to get off of welfare as soon as possible.

Last, i would try to do something about cheap labor in foreign countries. Sure it's cheaper for companies, but imagine if they provided jobs in their own country.I would attempt to lower the percent of companies that take their business elsewhere. It would help our economy so much. We would have jobs and more money. It would be the best thing to happen to the united states of America.

    2. I agree with you, because if a kid sees the gun they might think that is a toy or something like that and instead of protecting the kids they are going to put them in risk.

    3. I agree with the first issue, I think the only person who should be able to hold a weapon is a school cop. Teachers shouldn't be able to have a gun in their classroom because if anything gets out of hand with a student, the teacher can easily grab the gun and harm a student.

      Delete
    4. I agree with your first issue as well. Why should teachers be allowed to carry a gun to school? Instead of feeling safe there would be a sense of threat and an outbreak will occur. I also agree with the elfare issue because it seems as unjust of those who work hard. Some are taking advantage and lie on their applications. I've seen it happen and it is something that needs to be stopped. However, the people who do deserve welfare should maintain it but everyone should be required to be checked.

  25. If I were president I wouldn't send so much aid to other countries. Of couse there are those in need around the world but we our selves are in need. We have homeless and unemployed here in the U.S. and are apparently not paying much attention to our own. We rather help others around that are in great need but why do that when we can't even help our selves that are in little need compared to others.
I would change our education system as in making it better by conserving our money instead of sending it out to others, at least until we get up on our feet. Our education standards are not on par with the needs of the industry today and teens just like us are frustrated and scared about their future. Not everyone is college bound teen drop out rates, drug use, and pregnancy rates are all severe issues that are overlooked. How could we ever look into a future when the actual future generations lack the nessesary tools to function and succeed in the world market.
The third thing I would change would be our health care system. I would make a health care system which everyone could afford no matter what race, medical issue or how rich or poor on is. It would be a system which can be compatable with any hospital and or local clinic. The healthcare system we have now is just making everyone give up money away, money that has taken hard work to earn and now be forced to give away for something that should be for our own advantage if and when needed.

  26. If I were the President of the United States the three main areas of concern would be first, education. What is going to happen to the country? As county we are putting unimportant things as priority we put the standards lower and lower every time we talk about education and then we ask ourselves why United States is not on the leader in education. My second concern would have to be economy. Money for one thing is and has always been a problem with the economy we spend more money than we have. That’s what gets us in trouble. Also a lot of people are in welfare when they really don’t need it. We also spend money on things we don’t need but when it comes to buy things we really need we don’t have any money. My third concern would be immigration. Yes, most people want an immigration reform and most people deserve it but not all of them. For example people that do not deserve is the people that have criminal record or stuff like that. Yes, I know that they are most people that do deserve it because they work hard to help their families, also they have their record clean , they pay taxes, and they help the economy in the country. However by doing the reform is going to bring more attention to other people to come thinking that someday they are going to have another reform and is going to be a cycle that is going to be hard to control.

  27. If I was president of the United States I would focus on the violence that is going on right now. With all the massacres that have been occurred in the last couple of months I think we all came to realize that something has to be done with the gun control. We all know that the 2nd Amendment ensures the right to bear arms, but I believe that there should be more strict regulations for the people that want to buy a gun. I would do anything that is in my hands to stop crazy people from killing innocent people. My second issue would be education, I would create a program to increase federal funding to schools. Today education is a major concern to many Americans. I think that if all schools get more money and more resources; the learning, the knowledge, the skills of many students will increase. My last issue would be a health care plan, today there are many people in the U.S. that don't have any type of health insurance. The government wanted to pass a law where you either get the government's health care plan or you get your own one, but I would create a health care plan that will benefit everybody:).

  28. If I were president I would mainly focus on school budget cuts, immigration, and violence.I'd focus on school budget cuts because even though the ecomony is bad, there's no reason to cut money from all the schools. Students are this country's future, cutting down on the money they recciee for books, and other materials won't help America become number 1 in edication. It'll do the opposite and keep pushing us further and further down that line. Immigration is a major issue that everyone is talking about and, as president I'd like to adress the issue. Of course immigration has it's ups and downs, but so does every other issue that we as a nation are faced with, but although it may not benifit all, it will benifit some and that should be good enough. Yes, many immigrants deserve to have some sort of residency, but others dont. This is why when the issue is addresed there should be some sort of regulations, or rules that must be followed and requirements that must be fulfilled.I'd focus on violence because it's a major issue in our country. Violence has been at a constant rise and fall over the years. Enforcing the laws even more won't help because then citizens will be tempted to break them, but enforcing the laws less will make citizens less tempted to break the laws. Yes, laws will still be broken, but the crime rate will decrease. America has some laws that other countries don't necessarily have and, unlike us, their crime, drug abuse, and alcoholic problems are at a lower percentage than our in America. Mainly because the citizens have privileges that we in America don't have, with those privileges citizens don't feel the need or desire to use the drug, or drink. I'd try that method and see every percentage go down.

  29. If i was president the 3 things i would focus on are immigration reform, desrease of the national debt, and making abortion illegal
with an immigration reform the nation will have more citizens who are ready to become workers legaly so that their rights are protected and we will have the ability to tax them. this helps the immigrants become more productive because they will no longer be in fear of losing every thing the fought and struggled for, opportunities for better jobs will become available , and the government will have an increase of the amount of people paying tax thus helping the economy and lowering national debt.
if the nation is in debt then we must share the pain and have everyone cut back on luxuries we don't need. for example the only reason for a pay increase should be cost of liveng . the 27 amendmant should be removed because if congress wanted to they could inrease they own pay and buy things such as a car of the year every time it comes out . have you seen a poor congress man? i haven't they speak of making cutting back but all i see is them driving away in an escalade . the comman man is already cutting back on there spending isn't time the goverment did too?what is the piont of raising taxes if all you do is increase the national debt at a higher pace!
the life of an unborn child should not be ours to take if we are allowing abortion to be legal and accept it in our nation we might aswell be ok with murder. imagine how many potental scientists , doctors, lawers, firemen ,soldiers ,and teachers we have lost. the inocent unborn child has no done nothing wrong no matter what the surcomstace it was concived. if all men are created equal what gives us the right to take away an inocent life.

  31. If I were president of the United States I would focus on education, immigration, and the looming threat towards Israel.
First of all why would America cut back on education for the majority of America. Congress has their children set for life, they are placed in schools that would never have to worry about what we worry about daily. If we fund more into the education system of America, I believe that we will once again be the best nation in the world. As Nelson Mandela said "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." If the youth of America is well educated, then today's problems will be fixed tomorrow and the future generations can have a secure life in this country.
Second is immigration, I'm for the people who come here to gain a better life because that's what my grandmother had to do however what I am against are the people who abuse the system, who use welfare and food stamps, which is American tax money, and don't contribute back into the system. Not all people who come to this country are criminals or abuse our systems, they are hardworking individuals seeking a great future for their children and establish a legacy. These great people who seek an opportunity should be protected by our government, if Congress would ensure their security as future citizens, I believe that they will be a great contribution to our society and economy, instead of breaking up families.
Lastly I believe The United States needs to keep an eye of Iran. Iran and its president Ahmadinejad have constantly threatened and harassed Israel. He publicly stated that once he "wipes the Little Satan [Israel] of the face of the earth", he will then turn his attention to the "Big Satan [USA]" and destroy the "infidels" who are an abomination to Islam. As they near nuclear power, Israel cries out to the USA but we, being the great nation that we are, are slow to action so Israel is left with two choices: 1) Don't attack Iran but be ultimately destroyed or 2) Attack Iran but ultimately cause a war where the entire middle east attacks Israel. If the USA doesn't interfere with this issue, then Ahmadinejad, like Hitler, will cause a second Holocaust and potentially threaten the world security. Remember if the United States didn't interfere with Hitler's plans, imagine what the world would have been like? The same applies to this man who plots evil against the nation of Israel. Israel is the key.

    1. I agree with you with immigration because with them able to work they would be contributing to the economy which would help a lot more. With the Welfare thing there are still many citizens who take advantage of it, some families almost get up to $1,000 a month for food and that causes a bad effect to our economy.

    2. I agree with you David, education is the most important topic we must discuss. teen pregnancy, drop out rates, and little admittance into college will do little in securing a healthy future for the country. However, if we do more, in attempting to keep more students in high school, keep high school and college graduations high, employment and the economy will increase, and help decrease the national debt, which will leave more money for our country to fund into other important things like national parks, and make this country beautiful, and live up to its name, "the land of opportunity."

  32. If was president of the United States I would focus on Education, Economy, and Gun Control.

Education because there has been many students dropping out of school. There seems to be a problem with money because schools cant even afford paper, and in most schools some of the resources have been outdated. There should be a high requirement each year that students should pass in order to go to the next grade, that would make the students more prepared for the future. Although there are many students who don't learn at the same pace, there would be programs that would help them catch up and move up when they are able to. Education is to learn and have a better future, as a person and nation, but I education goes down the United States would not be one of the "greatest" nations.
Economy has been a huge problem over so many years since the United States is in debt over trillion of dollars. Although many wouldn't agree, but some organizations should be cut just for a period of time in order to bring the economy back up. Welfare given to people should be monitored. Those people should have a background check before being accepted because there are many people out there who just want to live off the money of the tax payers, when that's not fair.
Gun Control is a big issue right now, but guns aren't the problem. The people holding the guns are the problem, since many of them are insane. Taking away the guns wont stop the crazy people from harming other individuals. One thing that should be done is that anyone trying to obtain a gun should take a class on how a handle a gun and the rules behind it, but before that a background check should be made, in order to get a gun license. Guns are a source of protection and if they ban it, the sane people wouldn't have a way to be able to protect themselves because the insane would get a hold of a gun one way or another. It all just depends on the people, nit the guns.

    1. I agree with Samantha however i also disagree students that are in high school have many opportunities however work and sleep during classes which is unexceptionable. If people are in school just for sports and not for education then school should not be offered for them the should try out to either be on pro or Olympic teams. If not then become students and not sleep and waste tax dollars in school. Education would become more productive if students that went to school had to maintain a certain GPA or be released into the real world and work because most high school student aren't at school for an education and would rather be making "money" and helping out their family. The economy is another big issue but I already suggested what I would do with that certain issue. The hot topic of gun laws I agree that the hands that guns end up and the individuals decision with that weapon is dangerous but the people buying guns the proper way I feel get hurt the most because of ignorant people that these guns make poor ignorant decisions. The gun laws shouldn't be enforced a higher tax has already been in placed I believe that if you buy bullets for guns you must provide proof of a gun license and a tittle to your gun in order to purchase ammunition for the fire arm. That way those who are illegally getting these guns would be harder to harm people. Another problem that i find is that more innocent people are being robbed and killed in the windy city than across the great pond in the war that the united states is in. To me that is sad and pitiful and should be addressed by our president however it is not.

  33. If I was President they three areas I would put most of my attention to would be education, foreign affairs, and economy. Dealing with the No Child Gets Left Behind Act which is just way to get the precentage of students graduating up but at the long run it's also setting many students who don't understand the subject to fail. The United States as been in other countries problem solvers for many years and that has cost us heavily. The U.s just has to stop being the savior for other countries when the goverment first started we were told to not get in foreign affairs but we did it either way. That has to not completely stop but we have to limit of how often "Big Brother" has to become included in a conflict. United States economy has been a huge problem and it just keeps getting worse with all the bills being passed recently like the whole Medicare Act just isn't something the U.S needs.

  34. If i was the President of the United States the three things i would focus on would be taking out welfare, outlaw gun control, and legalizing some drugs.
First of all from a moral standpoint its like taking money from the working man to support the non working one. In todays world some people are just way to lazy and depend on welfare which leaves the rest of us hard workers to support them.Welfare is bad because there is nothing in the system that encourages people to get off of welfare, nor is there a limit to the amount of time or the number of times someone can collect welfare.
Secondly i would outlaw gun control. Many people believe that assault rifles are so dangerous because of the school shooting that just happened in connecticut. It was tragic but there has been many other shootings in the past. Why must they attempt to bann Ar 15s and M4 now? I believe there is no need for that. I mean a tragic event like SandyHook could occur with any weapon like a desert eagle or Glock 40, or even as little as a 9mm anywhere else. If anything i would just blow off the 1000 round magazines and 500 out the market.I would aslo make it a little harder to license a assault rifle. Making Assault rifles illegal would also boost up crime rates because either way people love there guns and still would find ways too get their hands on them causing gun muling to rise in America.
Third and last i would legalize the natural drugs like marijuana or coca Leafs. I believe doing this could help the economy and bring down the crime rate minimizing jail crowdedness. You really never hear people catching cancer with this. But you hear everyday about tabacco killing people. Meth, cocaine, and every other man made drug would stay illegal.

    1. If I were president I would focus on welfare, aiding other countries and weapons. First of all welfare is a huge reason why we are in debt, the requirements for being accepted for welfare are very easy to meet now a days. It is very convenient for people who don't want a job, which is not right because there are people who wish they can work but are disables, while there are these other people which choose to be lazy and not work. Parents able to work and living off of welfare are showing their kids that its ok to be lazy and have other people work. That will not help mold them and get ready for the future with the way the economy is going. Therefore I would enforce different requirements for it to where only people that really need it will get it. Aiding other countries can also be another reason of our debt in the U.S. Before aiding someone else we have to be sure that we are stable enough. We can always help hen possible but there are times when it is not possible. Weapons, are a huge reason of our crime rate. Guns should be outlawed period because even though now you need a license for them people still own some because of cartels. The same way drugs are being passes around the same with guns and weapons.

  35. If I were president of the United States I would focus mainly on Immigration, Education and the Economy especially in that order. I believe these three points lead to each other. In the US there is an approximate of 11 million immigrants, however only 1.3 million of those immigrants qualify for programs such as the Differed Action. That is not even half of those immigrants! I believe that if something is done in regards to the immigration issue then education in the US would benefit but most importantly the economy would. Education would benefit by finally giving the opportunity to young immigrants or not so young immigrants to be able to attend school and be treated as equals. There is a large amount of immigrants who have the desire to study but are unable to and if given the chance will do so and help increase the low literacy rates as explained by Martin. By allowing immigrants the opportunity to continue their education they will in turn work after or during their schooling and pay taxes just like any common citizen should and help boost the economy, something that is not going on now because many immigrants have had to drop out and end their education early in order to work illegally, something that should not be happening if the country would find some way to benefit itself otherwise.

    1. I agree immigrants aren't given the same opportunities as others, they have more trouble getting to college and jobs. They are discriminated against thinking that every immigrant is harmful or dangerous, when in reality most just want to create a better life for them and their families.

    2. I agree with Sandra. There are so many immigrants in the country that do not have the opportunity to continue on their education. It is not fair for them because they're actually wanting to learn and earn a better life for themselves unlike some Americans.

  36. If I were president of The United States I would focus on the economic crisis, foreign policy, and education. The national debt is continuing to rise without a near end to spending. Also raising the debt ceiling will do no good. The American economy will continue to struggle with the debt crises for years to come if it is not addressed. Republicans and Democrats cannot agree on whether to cut spending or increase taxes. If I were president I would do both as well as put more taxes on foreign companies to increase jobs in America. I would also address foreign policy. There are times when America should help other countries, but there are also times when we need to stay out of it. We just can't afford to help every struggling nation. A major cause of the debt is not only social security and Medicaid spending, but also the wars we have been a part of. We need to limit our aid to foreign nations and have a defined plan on when the U.S. needs to step in and when not to. Lastly I would reform education. Our current system is just not working. America is lagging behind other nations in education and The No Child Left Behind policy has done little to fix this. We need to have higher requirements for students and more preparation for college entrance exams in public schools. Schools need to have a more definitive way of identifying students that are struggling or have a learning disability in order to get them extra help. We should also increase funding on education and decrease funding on things like welfare because with more educated Americans less people will need welfare. I also believe that there should be different requirements for different levels because the top kids get held back and the bottom kids are not getting the special attention they need. By grouping students and having different requirements for them to pass, the students get to address specific areas they need better. The same state tests do not work for all students.

    1. I agree with you on the foreign affair. We do need to know when to get involved with other countries and when we need to stay out of it because sometimes we decide that we should take part in everything but all that does is cause our country to get in trouble economically or threatens our security.
It is true on the education subject, we need to better our education system and prepare the students much more for college. Also, the funding for welfare needs to decrease and give more funding to education.

  37. If I were to be president my three areas of concern would be education, gun control, and the economy. Education because the government doesn't pay enough attention to the needs and funding that each school needs, especially, to the lower class communities. I would give each state more funding to be able to strengthen and better the conditions, so that teachers can have the equipment needed to be able to educate students better. Gun control is another concern; there has been a significant amount of deaths caused by guns. As the president, I would make it harder for citizens to be able to purchase guns. I would make it a law to get a mental evaluation and a background check for everyone that wants to own guns. The economy is a concern as well. The economy has been declining every year and a lot of jobs have been lost because employers don't have the revenue to keep providing jobs. I would create more jobs and give owners that have a small business the opportunity to grow. Also, spend less on foreign affairs.

    1. I agree with your ideas but over all education is something to expensive and very difficult to "fix." It would cost to much to support every school in the nation. The idea of and mental evaluation what good would that do many "insane" people are actually sane to belive plus people can easily get guns through underground markets. Createing jobs isn't simple and it would cost more to produce jobs and goods in good old America.

    2. What you said about guns is exactly what i was thinking. Making them illegal will not solve a single dilemma. For instance look at mexico. Guns are illegal but woopty doo the majority of people still have them. Not everybody is a freaking psycho. Its almost impossible for me to believe they are bringing this hard to the table. All these people talking about people are so violent.. people shoot each other..guns are scary are just scary. If guns were never invented there would still be violence and crazy individuals everywhere. I personally love Assault rifles and would defend it to the last bit to make them not illegal!!!

  38. If I was president, I would focus on an immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million of undocumented people in the country, reforming the education system to provide an environment that will prepare students to be competitive in the global economy, and the social issues of equality for women.

Immigration is without a doubt a huge problem in the nation. I am not saying to not protect the borders, but we need to do something about the people that are already here, do not pose a threat to society and contribute to the economic growth. Deportation is not the answer since many of them have families here. What kind of country will the United States become if it continues to separate children from their mothers and fathers. Also, for the many DREAMERS that have been here since they were children and have been educated in American schools, a path to citizenship means that they will be able to return all the valuable time and resources spent on their education if allowed to legally work. That will help the economy because it will foster competition within American borders.

It is no secret that the American education system is a mediocre one. Secondary schools often do not prepare students for a higher education. It is almost a rule that if you live in a good neighborhood or can afford private schooling, then you will be ready for college but if you live in an intercity, poor school, then you are on your own. If we want students to be competitive with the global workforce, then education must not be based on the score of a test but rather the ability for students to solve problems, think, and comprehend. Education should not be about teaching kids what to think but how to think. Which brings up another unavoidable point, not every child is destined to go to college and that is perfectly alright. Just like not every child is apt at mathematics or science. The talents of individuals should be catered to in the secondary schools. A music genius does not need to "waste" countless hours in a math class. Similarly, a student that has a natural disposition to math and the sciences should not have to take time away from their passion to read the classics of Lord Byron or Chaucer. Some students will pick up the material faster than others. Not all students can be assessed with the same tests.

The other concern I will focus on is the gap in representation for women and LBGTQ people. It is the 21st century and women are still earning less than men. This was the fist time since the The Violence Against Women Act, introduced in 1994, had a difficult time getting reauthorize. Women's health coverage is being attacked. Organizations like Planned Parenthood have seen their funding cut thus the many women who benefit from these type of organizations have suffered. At the universities, the female students are taught how to avoid getting raped but the male students are not being told to NOT RAPE. Also, there is an unfair representation gap in Washington for the female population. I'm not ok with a bunch of white, old guys deciding what should be done about my birth control.

    1. I agree with Genesis completely. Women, today aren't being represented equally to any degree. Decisions are being made in Washington, with out anyone to speak up for my best interests. 39. If i was president of the U.S.A the 3 concerns that i would focus would be to reform the Criminal Justice System, the Nations Budget, in terms of where Funding should and shouldn't go. and lastly the Problematic issue of the possession of guns, the selling and distributions of guns polices.
During the time of Theodore Roosevelt historians remember him as the "World Police-man" because he settled foreign policies and help settle issues. Now the ironic thing about his title is that he was once the New York Police Department Commissioner and help the NYPD to become a more successful and effective department. However in today's Criminal Justice system there is lots of corruption not only in the local and state levels but its slowly becoming a National level and soon it could become a national security issue. i believe that we must re structure this System, because its the very system that helps our local communities, but unfortunately the issue of corruptions has put fear in citizens causing mistrust in any Police Officer and the ideal of pursuing a Criminal Career brings smirks about "Officers and donuts" and also ones about their personal appearance could be a possible reason why lots of Officers died on the line of duty. The training that they received when they entered the police academy is in a 6 month period and in those months the trainees go through tiring training and life learning training that could be a factor one day between life and death in the streets. At one point these officers stay healthy and in great physical conditions but slowly they lose that factor and it is reflected later on on the job. Also teachers who have a degree in Criminal justice and were once officers have lost their touch and they have fallen back on their homework in terms of new techniques and recently new foundations and criteria. The system needs to improve their fitness, policies, structure, and their devotion to serve their community and nation.
For years the government have been cutting funding to education, technology and other beneficial programs and instead they fund government projects that are pointless or are classified to discuss. Doesn't the government understand that cutting educational budgets will effect not only the current generation but it will also effect future generations, generations that one day will lead this Nation. How can his Country become the Top nation and be the "Shinning city on the hill" when they cut learning programs and limit what we learn, then how do they want to succeed. This nation is run by smart intellectual people who have the possible ability to run and even improve the nation under the right type of supervision. However, i must admit that their are those who live of the government with food stamps and they dont improve their conditions and continue to stay they same. These are the people lie, are lazy, and have the documents to work unlike others who enter this country risking their own life to start a better life for themselves and for their families back at home. The government needs to further investigate who in actuality needs the support and those who have been abusing the system should be punished, because they have been using money that could have be helpful to those who really needed the money and support to improve their conditions so that they would stop relying on the government.

I as a citizen would be devastated to know that the police would protect the criminal that paid the department with large amounts of money over me. The police are present to "Protect and serve" the community, not the rich criminals. This only makes the everyday citizen that much more anguished to call the police next time he or she is in trouble. Corruption needs to stop before it becomes a deadly virus, ever so slowly killing the people.

  40. And lastly, the issue of guns. The recent shooting at schools has made the issue become news headlights and it has also caught the eyes of the president the 3 branches. I believe that the government should issue a new law that only the government should own the FULL RIGHT TO MANUFACTURE, SELL AND POSSES SUCH WEAPONS. I know that it would violate one of our rights and other political parties would argue that we are giving the government more power. But must we be so selfish to have innocent people get killed instead of having one right taken away just because we dont want guns in our homes and hands. Guns do protect us but its also gets us killed. The government should have a national team to sweep ever file of who owns a weapon and evaluate if they do need the weapon. I know that it sounds very stupid but it would be necessary and it would reduce murders. The only people who should have a gun should be Police Officers and Government Officials and Agents and IF they do an in-just act then they will face punishment. These actions would take lots of time but in the end it would benefit everyone.

  41. If I were President two major concerns I would address under Education would be to abolish the "No Child Left Behind" Act and to create more schools instead of prisons And my third concern would be Court Sentencing. The No Child Left Behind Act is a way to help students who struggle in standardized test however, it has handicapped those who can understand the material, to wait for those who can't. Being an AP Student I feel this is something that should change because this slows down the education process of things we NEED to know with things we're REQUIRED to know for a standardized test. For those students who require the extra help I would advise schools to make after-school or in school programs to help those struggling. Also, As President, I would make more school for states and their districts. As you may know, less schools are made and more prisons are made and because of this tax payers complain that they are paying for non-district student. Why? Because parents want their kids to have better schools then those given to their area. To change this more school should be added. Finally my third concern would be court sentencing. Prison are made lager and in greater number because of our high criminal rate. however, what we don't know is most of the prisoners thrown into prison are charged with minor offenses and given long term sentencing. We can't stuff prisoners like dust under a rug. There must be an alternative way of solving this and lowering a minor offense sentence may help. Instead of giving a offender long term of a year or more in prison for a minor offense, we should fine or give jail time with community service. it may seem like a slap on the wrist yes, but it would give tax payer satisfaction to know that their money is being used for education instead of prison luxury.

    1. I agree with the point made on certain students being handicapped by having to wait upon other students that are not understanding of material and struggling in school. There's a big problem in showing support to lower leveled students, causing no progress in the country's education level and slowing down the learning of prospect students. Also that's a great point in that there's a lot of focus in what's required to know for certain tests, but not on what's truly needed for a further success in education and life.

    2. I agree with Diana because unfortunately our country of the U.S is filled with crime and violence, more prisons have to be built to keep them incarcerated. Which is a major concern because kids not meeting school academic requirements are those probably failing to understand the concepts, but because of the "No Child Left Behind" those advanced can't really move forward because of those trailing behind.

  42. If i were president i would focus on the three major points of education, Gun control, and the economy. There are way more problems with present day America, but these are some of the biggest ones that i think should be tended to.
With education there is one major problem which is funding. I look at school and ask myself why is it that there is major funding going into projects here in America, but just the minimum is put into the public education system. I have always been raised with the idea that education is really one of the most valuable things in life. In the end the education we get now is what is going to help us out in the future.
With gun control i really think it is unnecessary to outlaw assault rifles just because they are labeled "weapons of war." This to me just the government trying to get around the 2nd amendment. I along With most of the population here in Texas am a Strong supporter of the 2nd amendment and it just ticks me off to see the president doing things like this.
And lastly with the economy, how is it that the president has accomplished to add almost $5 trillion dollars to our national debt in his first term alone. If it continues like this Obama will add twice the amount of debt than Bush did. Since September 28,2007 the debt rises an average of $3.8 billion a day. So if this isn't a problem then tell me what is?

    ReplyDelete
  43. The three main topic I would discuss as President of the United State are the economy, education, and employment. All three topics intertwine with each other. Currently, the economy is at an all time low, as the national debt continues to increase daily, now at over 16 trillion dollars. One thing we, as a country, need to to do, is control spending , so we only spend what is necessary. Another factor is the exceedingly high unemployment rate. Without jobs, there is less money in circulation, which detains the economy from increasing. In order to increase employment, however, we must pass an education reform. Which would allow more students into college, more students will graduate, and have better opportunities for a career. The economy is the biggest issue that the country is facing at the time, and must be the governments top priority to fix.

  44. If i were president of The "Great" United States the 3 areas of concerns that i would focus on is immigration, education, and child abuse. As we all know there are alot of immigrants in the U.S. from all over the world. and Obama as this thing were they have to Deport 400,000 immigrants every year. where is this counrty gone to?! this country is how it is because of immigrants. they are the ones to help build schools, homes, and other constuction. you dont see many white people going out there in the hot sun building a school. they jus want to be the ones that take over and boss people around. (no offense)i wouldnt want to deport people who actually help around and contribute to this country.
Another area of concern is Education. There are alot of high Graduates who want to go to college and become sombody in life. but how can they and achieve it when money is so tight. not everybody can afford college. and every year the cost to go to college goes up. not by a few dollars, but by a few thousands dollars. soon enough not everybody is going to be able to go to college. i would change this this situation by haveing a policy where students who really want to go to college but dont have the right grades, or the money to do so. to have a specific scholarship, or some form where it can actually help them achieve what they want to be.
The last area of my concern is child abuse. as many may not know is that Every year 3.3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States. The United States has the worst record in the industrialized nation; losing five children every day due to abuse-related deaths. this can also relate to education due to the fact that these are children who maybe wanted to go to college but never got a chance to do so. You could be going to school with someone whos being abused by there parents. it could be your bestfriend and you wouldnt know it because they are to afriad to speak up. i would like to change this BIG time. im not to sure how, im still trying to come up with ways to do so. but this is something that i terrible hate with a passion. i mean who would want to live a life where you would have to fear for your life all the time. a child is a child. they didnt ask to be born. they are a blessing, one of Gods GREATEST creations that could happen. yet people dont care.or are jus to Blind to see it. if i actually ever saw this in person, OMG! i would make whoever is abusing their child a living HELL! sorry but its the truth, you do it to your child and it should be done back to you!jus saying.
i actually have one more area of concern and that is the guns. there should be some kind of restriction on who can buy a weapon. too many people have died due to weapons.and the stupidty that people use guns for. I actually lost a friend due to tha matter. Any one know Phillip Apostolo ( i think thats how you spell his last name) well his mom shot him in the head jus because they had an argument. instead of letting it go and moving on, she goes and gets her gun and shoots him in head. and she doesnt it while he was lying down on the couch. can you believe that!? i mean look at it, it was his OWN mom that killed him. she says that it was an accident. i dont buy it at all! and i hear that his family is too busy trying to get his mom out of jail. to me personally, i hope she stays in jail, til she dies!!! jus saying. so i believe that there should be some kind of restirction or law that lets certain people buy a gun. for example, there should be a test. to show who can buy one, and explain how and what that weapon would be used for. or why they actually need. and they have to give strong believeable reasons why.
those are my areas of concerns.

  45. If I were President of the United States I would focus on the immigration problem that the country is facing. I would try to come to a solution that will let the current immigrants of the United States become residents which will help many people to have better jobs and allow students to follow their college careers. With all of the new residents that will need to start paying taxes which will also contribute to fixing the debt of the country, which brings me to my second focus. The current debt and financial problem that the country is has. With more money coming in from taxes, being less involved in foreign affairs and creating more jobs I believe we could better the economy of the country. The third and last focus would be to give more money toward education in order to have students be prepared for college and give teachers the resources they need to have students reach their full potential.

If we were to do this it would help our debt as pointed out by alvaro. I also agree that as a country we should be supporting education more . Education is start of the next generation who will one day be in charge and if we dont focus and put our efforts into that how do we expect the youth of america too. How can we "advertize" being the best if we don't work the hardest at being the best.

  46. If I were president I would focus on foreign affairs, education and unemployment.
First, foreign affairs because that is the major point in causing our country to be in debt. Obama is trying to do what he thinks is best for the country by just adding more dollars to our national debt like Hector said. As president I would focus more on our own country and get rid of foreign affairs as much as possible.
Second, education because when you see students in low economic incomes societies, they aren't appreciating the education being given. It should be more difficult to get into college because most people are accepted based on their "rank" when really its just saying you are the best of the worst. In our society students should be more prepared for college and have higher requirements to graduate and schools should have a better teaching staff.
Third, unemployment, I would use stabilization policies to move the economy closer to full employment. It would put an end to a high unemployment rate. Granted, there will always be unemployed people, but hopefully we can make the number smaller.

    1. I agree with Ceci. Our education is corrupt, which correlates to our nation's high rate of unemployment. Our secondary and post-secondary education is not as top notch as other countries. Since our education level is not as high, it is harder for citizens to receive a "better" education and have a professional job, such as in the medical field. People from other countries that have a better education system come to the United States for jobs. Who's going to be hired? It's going to be those who are more educated and have a better resume. Since, we are giving jobs to foreign workers, the domestic workers in this country are left unemployed and have to struggle to get by in life

    2. I agree with Ceci on everything. Foreign affair involvement is gold mine for debt. And we're digging it up deep! We must either tale a step back and stop being the 'world's police', or the country will crumble underneath the huge national debt.
Education must be reformed. While our higher education is great, we are falling behind on other levels. May I recall the video Mr.Pyle showed about ending women's suffrage? And that was one of the best high school nationwide... We must set higher standards and maybe a more strict curriculum to our high schools.
Unemployment is a big issue. Sure, it will always be there, but the key is it to keep it controlled. If we can lower the rate, not only are helping people with jobs, but we're helping the economy and major work areas like manufacturing.

  47. haha, i agree with you john. you would probably be the first president that wouldve only been president for a day. but not really becuase Obama is still alive. lol so you still have a chance.
well two other things that i agree on is Gay marriage and abortion.
gay marriage isnt excatly the cutest thing that happens. God didnt Create Two Adams or Two Eves did he? cuz if he did , we would be here! now would we? God Created a MAN and a WOMAN! why? to be able to have children and they have children and so on and so forth.
another thing is abortion. like really!? why give up on a child when they didnt specifically ask to be born. they are a blessing. and they should be proud of it instead of ashamed. they a are the best thing that couldve happened to anyone. if you didnt want kids, then dont go there and have a "fun night out" right?! jus saying.

  48. If I was president I would focus on Abortion, the economy and the gun issue. A lot of teens or just people in general are getting abortions, some reasons are legit but someone are not. Some reasons are because they are not “ready.” If they aren’t ready then why didn’t they take the precautions they had to beforehand. People think that just because it’s a fetus it’s not a human being. But it is, we were fetus’ are we not human beings? Why should the fetus have their life taken before it even starts? The people should take responsibility for their actions, we all know what happens when we don’t use condoms.
People spend money like there is no tomorrow, the go shopping every day, eat out every night. We not save up anymore; we act like if we have a money tree growing in our back yard. When people run out of cash what do they do? They use their credit cards, until they can’t use it anymore. They have so much debt they don’t have money to pay half of it off. No one is self conscious about money and how they should spend it. Prices go up almost every day and very little people have enough money to get by.
Although we have the right to bear arms, people are using them to harm innocent people. We have security almost everywhere a person goes but people still manage to get by with a gun and cause harm. Guns are dangerous but only because the people that are handling them are. Guns are inanimate objects without someone to pull the trigger. You can take the guns away but there are other ways to cause harm and if a person really wanted to they would find a way. It’s not the guns it’s the people. Take the guns away and you still have crazy, dangerous person wanting to cause harm. Is anything safe anymore?

  49. As president of the United States my three main areas of concern for the country would be education, safety policies, and the preservation of natural resources.
An efficient state of education in this country would be vital for the future uprising of the country becoming a superpower in the world. Education is the base of all of society in my opinion. Becoming educated is what causes certain decisions and the production of ideas and reform. In present day it seems like education in the U.S. is backtracking due to the importance of raising all children at the same level. It is obvious that children are not all at the same level and the kids that are more understanding and bright are brought down to satisfy the needs of the country to rise up all kids, even if it means at a mediocre level. Standardized tests are used to show what students are supposed to learn, but don’t always represent the true capabilities of knowledge. There would need to be a change in this to allow more children to shine and let the ideas flow and create a better future for the country.
Safety policies, both foreign and domestic, are of great importance to this country and ought to be enforced more. Large focus has been shown on gun control, which is truly important, but that’s not the only point in safety that should be worked upon. There are so many problems within our safety authority that at times it is difficult to trust. Police are not always swift to react to emergencies and even then it seems like there is not much they do. Sure there are those great policemen, but those few that don’t do all they can as their duty to the people should be removed. More searches on qualifications in these people should be focused on. For foreign safety policies, troops should be brought back home. With having troops overseas it seems as a threat to other countries and that brings problems upon the U.S. There are many threats to this country and we need fewer enemies which would be fixed if we cause fewer threats outside of our country.
The third concern for our natural resources is very important. There won’t always be suitable energy for life. As of now there should be ways to keep stable control over all that we use from the natural resources available. Preserving natural resources would benefit the future of not only the U.S. but also the rest of the world. Not only should there be a focus on preservation, but on a search for new clean and efficient energy sources. With the U.S. finding a new energy, it would bump up the status of the country and cause a rise in the economy, which is also an issue of concern.

    1. I agree with Raul's opinion of "education is the base of all society," because stupid people equal stupid country I say. Students are being sometimes being held back and not being able to demonstrate their ability to do their work or sometimes held back because the lesson isn’t complete due to some students. I also believe that if a kid doesn’t want to go to school that there problem let them hurt themselves and be an uneducated person in the long run they are going to be the people who regret it. Students who are at school because they are forced to be there are only interfering with the students who want to learn and are also making it hard for teachers to teach. Instead they have to waste time to discipline students.

  50. If I were president three areas of concern I would focus on would be immigration, the economy, and the overall education of the United States. The immigration problems that are currently affecting the United States are a big deal but not everybody knows about. People in states further north hear about immigration but don’t know what it is nor is it affecting them as much as Sothern states such as Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico just to name a few. There has been no reform about this issue primarily because not too many people are affected by immigration, but the people who are affected by it have it bad. The Economy of the United States is currently not that well and one way that might help that would be taking away all types of food stamps and help only the people who really indeed need the economic help. Would it cause many people to go mad? Probably but in all honesty people who are capable to work should not be lazy and get a job. It might be hard at fist for people who have not worked all their lives, but at the same time it would give people of the United States initiative to get up on their feet and be responsible for them and for the ones they care about. The education in the United States needs improving. According to huffingtonpost.com the United States is ranked 16th overall in education and only 58% of undergraduate students actually earn their bachelors degree. If you ask me we need improvement and one way we can achieve that is to start challenging students at an earlier stage and have students better prepared for school by introducing better study habits and have them being used.

  51. If i were president of the United States, I would focus on three basic points: civil liberties, jobs in the U.S. and education.
Because we live in a democracy, the first policies i would put into place would be ones that encourage political awareness and education. We, as citizens, elect the people who represent us and if we don't like something, according to the laws of the United States, we can vote someone out.
Civil liberties, to me, are one of the most basic and fundamental parts of moving towards progress. If the citizens' rights aren't protected, it is difficult to try and solve bigger problems. Some civil liberties that need to be reinforced is the equality among women and men in society, unalienable rights for immigrants and marriage equality.
Jobs in the united states, is another part of the U.S. that desperately needs attention. With most of our college grads unable to find a job, the future of the country is at risk. Outsourcing is keeping many citizens unemployed even though the recession has passed. Regulation of job creation and outsourcing needs to be paid attention to.
With education, the nation's future is in the hands of the youth. They will grow and become our leaders, doctors and teachers. With the cost of tuition skyrocketing in recent years, policies to encourage students to go to college need to be put in place. Also, budget cuts to schools have done sufficient damage, budgets in education need to be restored in order for our students to be educated.

    1. I definitely have to agree with Candy's concern. There definitely has to be a greater encouragement of political awareness to have increase the lacking political participation of the youth and definitely education to promote the rise of politically active citizens. Education needs to be provided the necessary funds to increase the amount of scholarships for students to attend their institution. For example, students may drop out because of the exaggerated costs of housing and tuition. With greater funding, more students can be encouraged that a college education is indeed attainable and in the end, will benefit the US.

  52. If I was President of the United States, the first area of concern would be foreign affairs. I believe that the United States doesn’t put most of their focus on things that could concern our children or grandchildren in the future. Things like the Benghazi attack, “The war against terrorism”, I know it’s hard for someone to put an end to these types of things, because terrorism is the will of one man trying to influence and dictate others using fear, but something must be done. One of our founding fathers once said in his farewell address, “It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world..." The second area of concern could be the topic circling around immigration. The reason why I say it could be an area of concern is because in reality if you really think about it, immigration only bothers the southern states. You don’t wake up one morning hearing on the radio or news that Missouri is trying to enact a new law saying that illegal immigrants are banned from doing such and such activity, you just don’t hear that. You actually don’t hear that at all in the northern states. Whoever is President should be concern about things affecting the whole country, not just one portion of the states. Lastly, the United States economy should be a main concern on everyone’s mind, and if it’s not well I don’t know what to tell you. Something has to be done with the economy, and if nothing is done our national debt is going to keep rising and rising. Raising taxes could only go to a certain extent until paying taxes is going to be too expensive for the less fortunate people. The only way we’re going to get out of this slump is to keep education as one of our top priorities of our nation. While the United States is rank amongst the 17th nation in education, other nations are doing so much better compared to us. People nowadays think that education is just a way of getting a “better job”, there’s more to education than just getting a better job. Striving for a better economy, nation, and future is what education is all about.

  53. Yeah I agree with John. People are abusing welfare and all the things that the government is providing for them. Some of these people just rely on food stamps or that monthly check that comes through the mail. This isn't the way to solve our economic problems. These people need to go find a job and provide for their country instead of just piggybacking on "big brother" and safeguarding them from reality and life.

  54. If I were president three areas of concern would be:
    1. Education- Major concern is the failures of the N.C.L.B. Act. Education in the United States seeks to espouse the rise of an educated generation full of critical thinkers ready to contribute to the welfare and prestige of the nation. However, can this be successfully achieved by the restraining No Child Left behind Act? The No Child Left Behind Act has hindered the true progression of what this country seeks. Not only are a certain group of students still being left behind, but in a larger perspective we are all left behind. Standardized testing has become a major focus to schools in order to achieve the N.C.L.B.’s demanding requirements. These standardized tests have caused schools to spend invaluable time reviewing basic English and math skills when they should rather promote college-readiness and true critical thinking skills. As well, the N.C.L.B has failed to minimize the gaping inequalities between the privileged, higher-end schools and underprivileged, low income schools. Consequently, minority low-income students have not been able to benefit from the same high quality education as private students. We continue to be left behind and will continue to unless action is taken.. The country should focus on uplifting the nation as a whole by emphasizing the uplifting of minority low income students. The No Child Left Behind Act should provide low income schools with more financial help in order to promote the development of well-qualified teachers, provide more resources to expand the student’s ability to learn, and promote a positive educational environment where students can be exposed to real-life situations.

2.Fiscal Policy- Concerning fiscal policy and the economy, America's deficit has continued to grow. Because of foreign involvement, the US has come to depend on other countries such as China. As a result, the country is now in debt. So a major problem now in for the economist policy of the 2 political parties is : cutting spending (Social security, unemployment funds, etc) or increase taxes ( on all or only for the rich)? So the problem with both options is that their impact is unknown: hurt the economy or help flourish?
3.Outsourcing- While outsourcing may seem alluring because of its cheap labor, its outcomes such as increased output come at the expense of Americans. For example, the US comes to depend on the knowledge of foreign countries to manufacture items ,and as well, has begun to really primarily on imported goods. So how does this directly affect American workers? While helping the labor force in other countries flourish, needed jobs are taken away from Americans , and as a result, unemployment continues to prevail. There needs to be a balance between American-created products and outsourced-created goods in order to provide the much-needed jobs and at the same time keep a sustainable number of cheap goods.

  55. My 3 main concerns as president would be, the economy, legalization of guns in schools, and immigration. The economy is in turmoil, with the government overspending, and americans too afraid to spend. So I would decrease government spendings and encourage people to spend and not be afraid. Also, as we all know there are some teachers who abuse students, and if teachers are allowed to carry guns to school, those abusive teachers will be able to abuse more students or would , maybe, kill students they do not like. So I would try to stop the legalization of fire arms in schools. And as for immigration, immigrants are taking job opportunities from americans who want an honest living, and the immigrants don't pay taxes for their properties, because they aren't citizens. So I would decrease illlegal immigration and encourage people to become us citizens and learn the english language so they won't be taken advantage of when in the USA, like the were taken advantage of during the guilded age.

  56. If I were president, 3 things i would focus on would be the education system, gun control issues, and the health policies.
First, the issue of education is big here in America. It is said that education is a priority, yet the government doesn't put much time into bettering the education system. States are reducing the amount of help and funding that schools get. They are worrying about other things that don't even pertain to the country. If you can't afford a "good school" then you're basically left behind to help yourself. Even though we are under "No Child Left Behind" that is not necessarily true. Students eventually start to give up, and it is not because they don't want to learn, but because the community gives up on them and they don't get enough help. They don't get the tools they need. I mean some people don't want to continue school, but if the government would put more effort into helping students achieve a better education environment that feeds their needs maybe there would be more students wanting to stay in school.
Next, the gun control issue. I believe that teachers should not have the right to have guns in their possession for protection. Yes, we do have the right to bear arms established in our Bill of Rights, but it also doesn't mean that people can abuse it. With all the chaos and tragedies going on, I think gun control laws should be enforced more heavy and the people that are allowed to have guns should be monitored and checked more in detail. The regalations should be more so it wont be easy to access guns. It is not fair that innocent people have to pay the price of life because of irresponsible people.
Last issue would be the health care policies. Americans should have the final decision if they want to have health care or not. Some people would not be able to afford the cost of the health care policy with the new taxes that are being added. The Washington Post says "“Consumers are expected to remain sensitive to rising health costs, particularly given continued low projected income growth. In this environment, consumers are likely to continue to be judicious in their use of health-care services." If Americans are forced to get health care, they are most likely to rebel and go against it. They will not accept it.

  57. If I were president I would focus on international trade, education, and the economy. I would mainly focus on the economy to help it increase in status. Since the U.S. economy is the largest in the world, it is extremely significant to keep the status of the wealthiest nation, with a well-developed infrastructure as well. Increasing international trade is crucial in continuing globalization. If trade isn't increased, then goods would be limited to various nations. Even though it is more costly than domestic trade, it is more valuable because a country can import goods and services which require factors of production. Lastly, I would improve education nationwide. I believe that education is not a significant factor for students attending school right now. High school students aren't receiving the education they need to be ready for college. I think that there should be stricter requirements for students to achieve higher standards. They should all be educated on higher levels, especially inside core classrooms. If our future lies on the hands of the youth, who is going to aid in improving our nation if children aren't being taught on higher thinking levels? Therefore, education is a significant factor which needs improvement.

  58. If I were president, my top three areas of concern would be 1) reforming education, 2) finding an alternative, self-sustaining form of energy, and 3)regulating government agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration.
The education offered in the United States is well below the title of "Country with the Best Education." Our education level that is merely average compared to other countries, such as Finland, China, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, etc. I believe that not enough money is being spent on education. We spend just around 700 billion dollars on Defense and Security. The spending triumphs over the next two countries put together. If we cut just a bit of spending from Security and transition it to secondary and post-secondary education, our intellectual output might just increase significantly. Also, with the No Child Left Behind Act, we are lowering our educational standards for every student. One might argue that it helps those that learn at a slower pace or are challenged, but it is eliminating the ability for any student to reach a extremely high level of intelligence. It potentially hurts students, rather than benefits. By establishing the No Child Left Behind Act, dropping a bar for students to reach. We are just degrading our education system. We need to find a way to minimize that Act, without completely taking it away. It explains why are educational output is lower than many other countries.
My next concern would be finding an alternative form of energy. Oil Companies are finding out that this planet only has about fifty years left of fossil fuels, more or less. Many of our companies, vehicles, and other technology are powered by fossil fuels. Fifty years will come by very quickly, and we don't have much time before we run out. What would happen if we ran out? Our inventions and technological devices will be powerless and it will create a domino effect. Once our things stop working, chaos will be roared upon the world, leading to our demise. Research must be made into new forms of perpetual energy. We have to move beyond using solar energy and fossil fuels. Based on the Kardashev Scale, our planet is a type 0 civilization, meaning our technological output is minuscule. We have to rely on dead plants and organic compounds for energy. We need to work our way into a type 1 civilization, which states we have enough energy production and technological advancement to provide the whole planet with energy. We can control weather and not rely on the sun or fossil fuels. We'd be working our way into "immortality." The self-sustaining energy will save us from destruction and keep our species moving forward into more discoveries.
My third concern would be over the corruption of the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA was instituted to regulate corporations and protect Americans from harmful additives in food and drugs, but has now taken on itself to undo the most important constitutional protections for all Americans. By rejecting educating the public and providing independent options (hindering informed consent), it seeks police state power to remove serious information about health and about corporate products themselves, to mandate those products despite data indicating their dangers, and to force Americans into being ignorant, involuntary subjects in medical experiments with genetically modified food and with vaccines. Rather than controlling dangers to people’s health from corporations, the FDA is asserting a stunning reversal of its mission and of human rights – that people do not have a right to their bodily or physical health. It has become an openly anti-human agency.

    1. I completely agree with you. If the government were to spend just a bit of the money they spend on security and this "war" with the middle east, schools would be well off. People have become completely dependent of technology, and if we are not able to find an alternate energy, there definitely will be chaos. It is also wrong of the FDA to not tell us what is harmful in our foods and what is not. It keeps us in the dark about what we are really eating and what is really harming us.

  59. If I were the President of the United States my three areas of concern would be immigration, education and gun control. I would try to get a reform for all the illegal immigrants of the country. They are a very important part of this country. They are a big help for the economy of the country. They perform many jobs that a citizen would not do. I would try to get better opportunities for all the illegal students. They are the future of this country. And if they get they opportunity to continue with their education we all would get benefits. And finally guns i would try to set stronget laws for the people that would like to have a gun under their control. This country has to be a safe country to live and it is clear that we need to change some things.

  60. If I were president of the United States, my three areas of concern would be: immigration, legalizing marijuana, and bringing troops overseas home. I would try to get a reform for immigrants in the country. All immigrants who are already here can become residents and eventually citizens. Immigrants make a big part of our country. Also, there are many students in the U.S. who are illegal and can't receive scholarships or other benefits that students who are citizens receive. Second, legalizing marijuana. Many people already buy marijuana illegally, so making it legal and taxing it would really help out the economy. We could use it in place of all those anti-depressant medications that many Americans abuse. Third, is bringing troops overseas home. I would insist that we stay out of all other countries’ business, if Iraq wants us out, then what are we still fighting for? The land is not ours and we had no reason to go steal their oil in the first place. We need to take care of our land and our people.

    1. I agree with you as far as the marijuana and bringing the troops home, but making immigrants automatic residents and eventual citizens? No. This is because immigrants should undergo processing, which will separate ordinary citizens from criminals. I will reform immigration policies but all those who came to America under illegal terms should be deported and those who undergo the new process to become legal, become legal citizens. First, simply impose criminal background processing before legalization. Then, the immigrants can be legal.

      Delete
    2. I agree with your wanting of immigrant reform, however I don't not support your thoughts of legalizing marijuana one bit. We as a nation already have too much to lose if we decide to legalize marijuana. The children of this nation are already exposed to some much, such as alcohol, tobacco smoking, and many other forms of drug usage. If we legalize marijuana we would be basically giving the green light to everyone, even the children of this nation to use this drug, a drug that we have for many years have taught them to be bad. Doing this would just give another excuse for kids to drop out of school and peruse a life of drugs.

  61. If I were President of the United States, three areas of concern for me would be to have U.S. drug policies to reflect that of Poland, reform the Obamacare Policies, and put an end to welfare. Drugs in Poland are legal, which is odd because here in the amazing Estados Unidos, drugs are illegal and also has the largest amount of prisoners. Most of which, are for drugs, in particular marijuana. In Poland, where the only law is for addicts to see rehab, the crime rate is three times as SMALL as that of the U.S. The united States needs to understand that drug busts are costing millions of dollars and millions amount of time which can be used to solve murders and rape cases. Drugs are usually damaging to one's SELF and anyone other should be reported as abuse. Next, Obamacare is going to fine anyone of doesn't have health insurance, which in case someone should not be able to afford insurance, will obtain an additional fine. This isn't fair and should be omitted at once. If someone should not be able to afford insurance, adding costs will only damage, not insure. Finally, welfare was made to aid World War I. World War I is over and yet welfare isn't. This aide to the employable unemployed is a waste of money and should be discontinued.

  62. If I were the president of the United States, my three concerns would be Immigration, education, and the economy. I would try to pass a reform for the immigrants to become citizens, but just the ones that would like to go to school, the ones with a clean record. After that I would improve the education by making the students want to go to school. In my opinion I would start school around 8 in the morning because its very hard to wake up at 5 or 6 everyday which would then lead to the student being tired and not wanting to go to school. I would aslo remove the teachers that don't teach and just sit at their desk and replace them with teachers that love to teach and be willing to help the student. If I would to push for the immigration reform I belive that the economy will improve by it because a lot of the illegal students would go to college and pay taxes.

  63. If I were president three areas of concerns I would have for the United States would be government spending, gun control, and alternative energy. The US has not been able to regulate government spending and has pilled a lot of debt over the years. I would put into place new policies and regulations to ensure that what we are spending money on is worth the cost in an effort to eliminate unnecessary spending. Gun control has gone out of control here in the US. I would place policies and regulations that would limit the number of firearms one many own, the type of firearms one can own, and place strict regulation on the distribution and marketing guns. There have been too many frequent tragedies that involve the use of a gun and it is about time we start taking action to ensure safe communities all across the nation. The United States has much energy consumption through the use of fossil fuels, however these precious fuels that we have come to heavily depend on for many basic necessities in our society are running. These forms of energy have grown to become very expensive over the past few years and can only increase in price. It is about time that we start looking into much cheaper forms of energy such as wind, solar, and electricity to help power our nation, instead of continuing on the path that will only lead us to a devastating energy crisis.

  64. If I were president the three issues of concern I would focus on would involve immigration, economy, and education.
Immigration has been a concern since the Unites states was formed. Moreover, immigration numbers have been increasing throughout the years. How does the United States react to this? They brak families aprt without remorse. The children of the people who suffer to live here and were bron in the U. S. and are considered citizens. Their parents suffered to get to their position and to be in a "FREE" country. Why should the innocent be deported back to a place where their freedom is stolen and depraved? If I were president I wouldn't keep ALL immigrants only those who are worthy of it. The innocent ones who have no criminal records should remain and enjoy the sweet taste of liberty. Some american citizens are not even worth to be called citizens and take freedom for granted but most immigrants who should be given a chance don't and appreciate the little things.
The economy is also a significant issue in the United States. The country is indebted with foreign countries and blame others for their downfalls. Everyone is to blame for the post recession in America its not just the president, congress, and or government. Its easy to blame the president for the struggles being faced. The people have also contributed to the downfall of the economy. If I could solve this problem it would take me several years of presidency because of the large amount of money owned but I would seek the people's help and the government.
Education is another issues to discuss. Our education system is often degraded. Their own concern invloves state tests which only pertain basic skills. How will basic skills get us to high level thinking and how are we suppose to answer critical questions at ease? If we started preparing everyone for higher level thinking in elementary school or even middle school our test scores would increase. If I were president, I would prepare everyone for the outside world at an early age. SAT tests should be take in replace of state tests. All the tests would be times so the average student can pace him or her self.

As President of the United States my three primary concerns of this country is to shift our resources from nonworking plans and projects to matters in need, another concern is the cut in education, and lastly to liquidate our nuclear ICBMs. A problem we, as a nation, face is we're stuck with the idea that we, America, are number one and everything is great, but in reality we are the opposite. At one point in time we were the greatest in the world, but only with the nuclear barrel facing our competitors. Since then the world has not only caught up with us, but surpassed us and raised the standards of the world. We're nothing more than spoiled children in the world home, if we don't get something we want we bully other nations until we get it. we need to re-evaluate what we stand for and how we need to assert ourselves on the national stage. A famous adage I like to reflect on is "We can not help others, if we can not help ourselves." We need to stop being the world's police and focus on domestic issues. How can we offer other countries economic relief when our own economy is taking a downfall. How can we say we're leading the future when countries in Asia are already there. Instead of learning from our horrible past, we embrace it and help repeat it. Well, the cycle stops with me. The only thing America is the best at, is War. We need to decrease funding towards our military industrial complex and fund our manufacture complex so that we are less dependent on imports and make our money from exports. We need to be diverse in a variety of industries, not just war and services. I believe we need to support American education so that one day we will be number one once again. Lastly, how can we say we support peace when we own a nuclear stockpile that can support not only War World three, but four and five. John F Kennedy was quoted, "In order to have peace, we must have war." That can change, but first we have to change ourselves and our ideology by changing what needs to be change and make peace with out the nuclear barrel.

  66. If i were president of the United States, my three concerns would be education, the economy, and immigration. Our schools are loosing funding each school year. With less funding, there are less textbooks, less computers, and even less qualified teachers. If our government was able to handle the peoples money, our schools would be better places. Also,by giving schools more funding, there would be able to be more programs in schools to prevent dropouts,as well as more dropout recovery programs. This would then give more people the opportunity to attend a college/university and would add more jobs. Which brings me to my second topic, the economy. Currently, our economy is in turmoil. It is predicted by the Congressional Budget Office that if nothing is done to avert the fiscal cliff, the country will go into another recession in the early parts of this year, with GDP dropping by 0.5 percent between fourth quarter of 2012 and fourth quarter of 2013,unemployment will rise to about 9 percent in 2013,and inflation rising to 2 percent ANNUALLY in the next few years.(NCPA)I believe that if the government finally began to stop with the overspending, the United States would be able to bring itself up,but that isnt going to happen if the United States does not fix its priorities. Thirdly, i would work on immigration reform. As the child of a nationalized US citizen and a legal resident of the US,i believe that if someone comes to the United States to work, and has a clean record, they should be able to become citizens. In the news, you constantly hear of families being torn apart. If i were president, I would legalize immigrants if they, again, had a steady job,a clean criminal record in their home country and the United States, and are the parent of a US-born child.

  67. As president the areas of concern hat I would deal with would be the war on terror, immigration, and gun control. Foreign relations between the US and the Middle East have been tense for many years, all these organizations whose goals are to terrorize the people would be dealt. More soldiers would be sent out, in turn a declaration for a Second War on terror. The immigration in the US has been problematic for decades and I will push for the deportation of at least 65% of illegal immigrants in the states bordering Mexico. Lastly I would ban the distribution and selling of military grade weaponry to the public which would allow the people to to have right to bear some arms.

  68. As president, the 3 areas of concern for the country would be education, welfare, and violence. Education nowadays is decreasing due to the students not receiving the proper education needed. Students aren't meeting requirements while in school and instead of holding them back, they instead move on forward. Also, the special needs children shouldn't be held to the same standards as others. It is not fair for a child whom may not be able to read be required to take a test or learn at the pace of someone else.
Welfare was made to help people out of the war. Now, people are abusing the system. There are many people capable of working, but instead aren't. Those people who aren't working instead chose to be provided with welfare and it is not right. People who can work, should work. If the person can not for some reason then that's a different story.
Violence is a serious matter. School shootings seems to be increasing and even violence itself is a never-ending thing. Violence needs to be prevented as much as possible. There are innocent people getting injured and even killed for something they were not involved in.

  69. Speaking as if I were the president of the United States of America, my focal points would go towards border, and foreign affairs being the central key point, manangement and control of illegal materials, such as gun's, drugs, and lastly education which appears to be a chart topper amongst my fellow classmates.
    1) Borders/ Foreign Affairs: Why is it that whenever someone thinks of an illegal, they think of a Mexican the figure bound upon that word. We have a border all around us where we think that only " True Americans" have a right to live in. Need I tell anybody the population of amount of immingrants living in the United States today? We have already been living with immigrants, and most of the time we have done just fine. Immigrants do the job of many whom don't want to perform the tasks upon them such as garbage pick up men, lawn mower, or some of the finest chef's around, and now many of the immagrants are getting out of the boundaries destined upon them by their limitations. Many immagrants have taken jobs at public places such as malls, factories, and even in some cases the most prodigious of hotels, obtaining some of the highest jobs available. I would like to create a policy that gaurantees residency to immigrants that have maintained a good status, and have contributed to the country, and have kept peace in it, however manneer that the policy will be made, they must not have a highly classified crime such as robbery, assault murder, etc.. In order for me to obtain enough people accepting this policy I will have to make it strict, and give thourough review for all who qualify, and as for the foreign affairs part of my point I will try to push our boundaries while also pushing a more friendly country for all to work in unision in order to form a more perfect nation.
2)Control of illegal materials: "Gun Control" that's they top issue today. Do I believe guns and other dangerous objects should be made illegal? YES, of course, to a certain extent. I believe there should be a policy that states that only people that have not obtained a criminal background should be allowed to keep guns. Of course we will make gun licensing stricter, for example by making the consumers swear through an affidavat ensuring that it is for there use only for protection, and can not be given to anyone else, in order to prevent a black market. Those who have obtained a criminal background will have to have their guns repossed and either destroyed or give them to the national army or public saftery figures. The illegalization of drugs should be kept during my power of office, and only be given to the ones whom need it for medicinal purposes, and they'd have to go through a lengthier process than the one that we have today, and we will have to keep track of those whom recieve, sell, and have acess to those drugs.
3)Education: We have to make our future, and who's our futue, the youth of today. More funding should be going towards schools, and providers than education the jails, and state prison, the fact that there is heavier construction of prisons than schools is just nonsense. For us to ensure a future we have to create it through what the youth is learning. We can add higher fundings, more subjects needed to take, stronger test, not just the basics. AP should turn to regular, and AP should turn to something much greater. I believe we can make kids mature, while still leaving them comfort, and personal space enought for them to have fun and not let there life go by to fast or otherwise we'd just have adults all the time, and what's the good in that?

  70. If I was president of the United States my first concern would be violence. Violence has been been a really big issue especially the inappropriate usage of guns. Like in the shooting in North Harris and the terrible shooting in Connecticut. I don't know how people can selling guns to individuals that don't own a license. Many innocent people are being killed do this issue. My second concern would be immigration I will push for a reform that would give undocumented immigrants citizenship. However it would not be that strict but it will only be given to the people who actually contribute back to the country. A research will be done to examine any felonies and this would only help people who truly came to have a better condition of life or that want to study and work. Thirdly concern would be education. Today many schools have less and less funding which means that there are less sources of study. With more funding many kids will have a better education with all the necessary supplies for them.

  71. If i were president of the the United States 3 things that i would do is 1.Do exactlty what George Washington told us to do but we have not, Stay out of foreing affairs, in other words stop sticking our nose in other peoples business because when we do that their problems become our problems. 2.Welfare, i would enforce a much tighter policy on who we gave it out to. There is alot a people who dont need it but because they are lazy and dont want to work or have a workphobia rather live of other people who work hard for their money. Now im not saying that we shouldnt give it out, just to those who really need it.3. I would work in relieving this country of all its debt. 15 trillion in debt is not a good a pretty number to have. Debt simply hurts us as a nation and its coming out of our pockets its impact is immense on us. These are 3 things i would do if i was president I would srtive for what America once was, prosperous and great, to bring that back, not what it has become.

  72. If I was president of the U.S.there would be many areas of the goverment that would need addressing, but my main concerns would deal with gun control, immigration/border control, and the legalization of marijuana. Out these three my main priority would be in gun control. First I would make the proccess of buying and getting a gun would be elaborate. Then I would create a law stating that all transations dealing with guns be monitored and recorded. But nt only that I would make it a law , and fineable, that the owner of a gun have the gun in a place not easily accessable and proof of this before the gun is given to the customer. Next I would try to pass a reform on immigration to make the one already in the U.S legalized as long as they could prove they had a job, housing, and had some what of an edication level. Then hire former immagrants a job to show the goverment diffrent spots along the border where people are able to get by and fix the problems. The last thing on my main list of conerns would be to deal with the ligalization of marijuana. I would make it legal nt only for medical usage but also recrational usage of anyonre over a certain age determaned by "the people" of the U.S. I would put a tax on it as to help the economy of the U.S.

  73. If i were president of the United States the first issue I would immediately address is the unemployment issue I would attack this issue by allowing a pipeline and up start drilling oil in both the gulf and Alaska. Since taxes has already been raised by our recent president I would use that extra money and build a pipeline into the us and start to use that oil for america instead of paying outrages prices due to OPEC and get gas below $2. By using local oil rather than importing is that american can also export the oil as well. The next item on my agenda as president is to deal with foreign affairs is bring the troops back from Afghanistan because fighting a war on "Terror" on by word of mouth can never be won due to the enemy blending in with many civilians. Thirdly I would supply NASA with all the funding they need and because a government program such as NASA has created technology that Americans use today and can create new technology and scientific research to supply more jobs in america.

  74. If I were President three areas of concern for me would be gun control, focus more on our country and the way the government spends money. As of now the debt the United States obviously shows how poorly they use currency currency that they do not have. So instead of trying to help other countries and spending money on them we should focus more on fixing our countries personal problems. I mean helping other countries in need is generous but I believe we focus on them extremely too much. Maybe if the U.S. would have paid more attention to out countries problems there is a possibility that there would be much less today. As of gun control I would make a more strict criteria to meet when trying to receive a gun license. Also when giving rigid background check to those trying to get in reach of a gun license.

  75. The three things I would do as president of the United States:
    1) I would pass a universal healthcare bill that included every person in the country regardless of income, race, creed, medical history, marital status, hair color, smell, or whatever other reason you are currently be denied the healthcare you need. This plan would cost you absolutely nothing to participate in. It would include mental and dental health as well. I would offer all employees longer vacations and full paid sick leave. New mothers could take up to one year off to raise their newborn. Then when returning to work, they would receive free child care. The childcare will have adequate staffing overseen by trained professionals who take pride in their work and have medical training to deal with sudden problems. Prescriptions would cost five dollars, no matter what the medication, dosage, or frequency of use. There would be no more being declined for anything, if you need treatment, you will receive it. Your life is decided by insurance companies who see you as a dollar sign. They’re in the business of making money and there is no money in making you healthy. Currently there is no money in finding a cure for a disease, only in fighting the symptoms. I would invest money in research and development of cures for all diseases and fund programs dedicated to that goal.
    2) The education standards are no where near with the needs of the industry today and so many teens are frustrated and scared about their future (not everyone is college bound). Teen drop out rates, drug use, pregnancy are sever issues that are overlooked. How can we look forward to a future if the future generation lack the necessary tools to function and succeed in the world market? People are depressed, discouraged, worried for their futures and their children because of unemployment and rising cost of living.
3)I would insist that we stay out of all other countries’ business unless we are asked nicely to intervene. If Iraq wants us out, then let’s get out. Why are we still fighting there right now? Do you believe it’s going to fall into chaos if we leave? We are not going to be there forever, and weather we are there two days or two hundred years, chaos will ensue. That’s because the land is not ours and we have no stake in it or the oil we went there to steal in the first place. We need to take care of our land and our people. Our opinion does not need to be that of the rest of the worlds. Will we need to be involved in some aspects of the world? Yes I do believe we will. For example a place like Darfur certainly needs our help. But that stems from the fact that they lack basic human rights. They have no clean drinking water and no active sewer system. So let’s start by helping them and all third world countries to get basic necessities they need. When we pick and choose what countries we want to help it breeds anger and resentment towards us. Such anger and hatred for each other is pushing us all to the brink of extinction.

  76. If I were President of the United States the three areas of concern I have for my country would be immigration, gay marriage, and the second amendent.
I comprehend the fact our country is emtremely based on the fact everyone in this country is an immigrant or past relatives were immigrants to this country. I have had the greatest experience being able to go to the world famous Ellis Island Musesum. The musesum contains some much information about the many immigrants who had traveled from many different countries to get there. So when I say I understand our country is based on immigration I had a first hand look on many of the their stories of where they came from, etc. So when I say I disagree with allowing illegal immigrants being allowed to go to our schools, be able to use our government programs, and take a job before a legal citizen is an issue I just can not overlook. How in the world do illegal immigrants get to use my parents hard earned money from taxes to take care of themselves when HONESTLY they could be spending more money on me! I don't care if that is selfish but that is my view on the issue. IF YOUR ILLEGAL YOU ARE BREAKING A LAW! Simply as that. I don't care if your crying your parent got sent back and you were born here. Your parent was breaking a law and so that is the punishment. So I encourage the government to send back illegal immigrants.
I have many gay successful gay family members and I support them to the fullest being my family. They never embraced their sexuality around me and so I only seen them as anyone else being a loving family member. Gay people are just like you and me the only difference is loving the same sex. Being a catholic it is not acceptable to love the same sex. I am not bias of my opinion due to going to church 2 or 3 times a week but its only another view of the situation. getting to my point I do not support gay marriage being this country is based on Christianity. If this country wasn't based on it I would say go ahead knock yourself out being I am a free spirited kinda gal,but in this case I can only diagree. I support gays to be who they are god all made us different, but making it legal is just not gona happen. the day gay marriage is legal throughout the whole United States is the day or year our country will clasp. By saying that I will just state will not support gay marriage if I ever had to come across the issue.
Second Amendment : The right to bear arms. This Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights and The U.S Constitution allowing us to have guns. I disagree with a few of the opinions on the blog about this subject only being I grew up with guns and being from Texas that isn't abnormal. Texas is known for hunting and so it is not uncommon to have a gun in a home down here. In a democratic state as California you bought a gun for protection but then they traded there weapons for a "RIGHT" cause however when someone breaks into there home and that person has a gun it only reflects how ignorant they were for trading their weapon in when outside there is chaos amoung them and they will soon regret doing the "RIGHT" thing. I find one other students opinion very ignorant when they stated to ban guns. If they ban guns now the law biding citizens will be the only ones giving up their guns to the government where the idiots who do harm to others and are troublemakers will keep them and have power over the unarmed law biding citizens. So whoever that student might be just let that sink in. Anywho I encourage law biding citizens to buy arms and the government should not get involved.

  77. If i was president of the united states, the three areas of concern that i would focus more on would be gun control, immigration, and education.
Lately in the united states, a lot of accidents have occurred due to gun control. i believe that guns should be banned form the USA, because they were meant to harm, guns are not toys, they were originally made to protect someone from harm, but now guns are being used to harm people and that is not right. I believe that guns need to be banned in order to provide safer communities around us. Immigration is one of my main concerns too. i believe that immigrants who have been here in the USA, for a long time and have a clean record should receive there papers, doing this it will motivate them do even better in this country. Immigrants came tot the USA, for hopes and dreams. They believe that the USA is the land of opportunities , and in order for there dreams to come true, they should receive there papers in order to become legal in the united states. Those who have been here for long time and have work really hard, deserve to become legal in the USA. My third main concern is education. i believe that eduction is very important to everybody especially to kids. Education should be a persons first priority. Every children should go to school and they need to be motivated in order to not drop out, lately education as not being that important to some students. my main focus would be to motivate every single student to go to school and graduate in order to be successful in life. Education should always be something important in someones life. If i was president of the USA, i would make a big change in the USA, and these would be my main 3 concerns.

  78. If I were president my main 3 areas of concern would be immigration, gay marriage, and the legalization of marijuana. Immigration is a major issue. I don't believe that anyone and everyone should be given citizenship or residency, I believe there should be a process to wheat out those who are criminals and should not be allowed in. I also don't believe it is fair to punish someone who was brought in illegally into the United States by their parents at a young age. I also feel very strongly about gay marriage. I don't believe that an individual should be discriminated against due to their sexual preference. Some people like apple pie, some don't, that's just the way things are. Being homosexual doesn't make someone any less of a person, and in the end love is love and everyone should be able to express their love with marriage. Regardless of their sexual preference. I personally believe that marijuana should be legalized. Not only will it open up many job opportunity's, but I believe it would also be boost to the economy.

  79. I am posting last minute and i may use topics the have already been chosen, but i am firm with the topics i choose. If i were president my first job would be the deficit the nation is bearing. I would do my best to find money for the nation without hurting the nation. Wellfare would not be dismissed rather than be rearranged. I would definitely tax the rich higher and deal with social security as well. my second policy as President is that I would address the immigration problem. I believe immigrants should be allowed to live in the United States only if they file for citizensh correctly. if immigrants can contribute to the nation then they would be allowed to stay. Criminals would be sent away. My last policy would be same sex marriage. I would be strongly for same sex marriage due to economic benifits for the country as well moral for the nation. Tolerance.

  80. If I was President I would directly focus on 3 concerns being, how guns are issued to the public, how the gov't spends the nations money, and the issue of legalizing marijuana.
First off, now a days anybody can get a gun issued to them as long as their over 21 but they gov't should get involved and at least do a background check on the person who with be issued a weapon that kills millions each year.
Secondly, I would try to make the debt of our nation decrease by spending the nation's money in a different way, instead of making arms to fight wars, i would pay back little by little or make revenue off our exports and try to decrease the amount of money spent on imports.
Lastly, I would try to legalize marijuana because it alone is a popular product, that if sold by the gov't it could bring the revenue we need to lower our debt.

    ReplyDelete
  81. If I was president three main concerns in America I would focus on is gun control, legalization of marijuana, and Having better security in our schools.

I believe that the banning of assault rifles is the correct and right thing to do and a concern in America. Assault rifles are for the use of being in a war, and not for an average everyday person. Having a handgun and a shotgun for protection or hunting is okay, but what why do people need an assault rifle for. The second amendment says we have the right to bear arms, but to what extent does that mean.

If we legalize marijuana in America today. We would be able to put a tax on the marijuana being sold, and the tax being put on marijuana can help the economy out. If marijuana is legalized than the cartel would loose a lot of money and marijuana is one of the main drugs trying to be smuggled into America today. Also the jails are overpopulated by people that are doing pity crimes such as charged with marijuana. While that space can be used for somebody that actually does a crime worth major punishment like rape and murder.

It takes many school shootings, and bad things happening in school before people even realize how bad the security at school is. When we are at school, its suppose to be our second home and when your at home your suppose to feel safe. In reality schools lack security and safety for others. Even at MacArthur alone our security isn't all that great. There's been many cars and trucks stolen or broken into right in the parking lot at school, and nothing is done about it. The security cameras facing the parking lot is old, and can barely see anything just little blocks and shapes. The metal detectors don't always work, and the schools just needs better security, and procedures in school to keep all kids safe.

    1. I completely agree with you on the legalization of marijuana, it will boost of economy if we put taxes on it and it will create more jobs for the people. The way I see it, the security at school really isn't cutting it. Too many shooting are taking place and people are dying. The teachers need to starting caring around guns. For the protection of the students.

  82. If i were president my main concerns would be in Education, Economic crisis, and the Death Penalty. Education in american society has dropped tremendously, the lack of education in the U.S will ultimately lead to the downfall of America. WIthout a strong educational foundation it is almost impossible to debate and change the major problems in society. Most people just judge the less intelligent child rather than help them out, this is just sad on the adult's part because they do not seize the opportunity to change that child's knowledge which will just end up affecting the adult's future. I always hear teacher say, "Wow your generation scares me, and to think that one day you guys will rule this nation" but instead of actually preparing us for the real world they sit there and complain about how little we know. I also believe that teachers should be monitored regularly to make sure that they are on top of their lessons and not slacking off because of their short attention span.
Our economic crisis is in one of the worst positions its ever been, instead of depending so much on other countries we should lean away from borrowing so much money and save ourselves. If we cannot pull ourselves out of the big great hole of debt we will eventually fall prey to the rest of the superpowers. It is pathetic that we must rely so heavily on the other nations to pull our dead weight.
I see the death penalty as a necessary law because tax payers are the only ones suffering for the mistakes of criminals, Tax payers pay for criminals to eat for free, lounge around for free and ultimately live for free. They are going to be in jail for life anyway so why waste so much money when it'd be easier to just stop all that with the death penalty.

  83. If i was president first I would stop all of this gun prevention bills. There is no way a bill like that will pass with the NRA so my plan is to raise the prices on high caliber guns and ammunition. This way there won't be as many people shooting up places. There will be high fines on people with guns and without a permit. Also I would be for teachers having a gun, there is to many shooting happening lately so the security isn't really helping. Secondly I would legalize marijuana, we can sell it in pharmacies and put taxes on it. I see it as something that can really boost our economy because it's obvious that marijuana is widely sold illegally in the U.S. so why not sell it legally our selves and make money off of it to pay off debts. It will also bring more jobs helping lower the unemployment rate. If we look back in our history, tobacco helped boost our growth when we first started off so I really see marijuana helping us getting out of this economic hole. Thirdly I would grant U.S. citizenship to illegal immigrants if the following: 1) they have been liking in the U.S. for at least 10 years or have an american-born child. 2) If they are currently employed and pay taxes. 3) If they have no past criminal record. There are a lot of people that deserve to be an "American" and have the rights they wanted but couldn't have in their original country. - Kevin Castro
